Sisal House Program Overview

The Sisal House project has the potential to provide a alternative means for housing in emergencies and in chronically under developed regions

The sisal house project provides a vehicle for the Rotary Club of Dexter to have a single long term project that incorporates the five avenues of service: club service, vocational service, community service, international service, and new generations services

Phase 1 – Prototype Development and Test

•the development and documentation of the manufacturing process

•the acquisition of material and equipment to build a proof of concept model

•the construction and testing of several proof of concept models

•the construction of a playhouse 6’ x8’ size sample house for weather testing

the development of instructions and educational materials

Phase 2- Sisal House Factory in a BoxDevelop the sisal factory in a box equipment and material listDevelop a standardized plan and platform for sisal factory in a boxDevelop documentation of the construction process Build two or three sisal factory boxesField test the sisal factory in a box in predetermined location with indigenous personnel

Phase 3- Initial Adoption Program

•Establish operating organization

•Establish partnership with rotary club in a developing test nation

•Develop logistics plan including customs issues

•Develop test plan and schedule

•Develop production schedule for 5 test units

•Deliver 5 test units

•Execute test plan and schedule

•Based on results provide reengineering and documentation modifications as necessary
