Dear SITians,

We are entering into yet another year with this issue.

Due to personal reasons, I have relinquished the post of Hon. Secretary of SIT/SES. I have been intensely associated with SITAA for about 10 years, much before SITAA became a Registered Society. I have always enjoyed my association with SITAA. On health grounds,

I have decided to relinquish the post of President of SITAA, with effect from 30-6-2018. I have already sent needed papers to Secretary SITAA on this count.

I wish SITAA continued growth, as a Banyan Tree is bound to. All best wishes and regards

Dear SITians,

I am glad to present this issue of SITAA VOICE of First quarter of 2018-19 after the award of GS-ANC MEF Scholarships to the second and final year students of 2018-19.

Dr.S.Sudharssanam Former Hon. Secretary, SIT & President, SITAA informed SITAA that he would like to relinquish the post of President of SITAA due to personal reasons. Though officially SITAA is in receipt of his request, SITAA would like to have his great whole hearted

services and guidance to have bright functioning in the future. On behalf of SITAA and on my personal behalf, from bottom of my heart, I express my gratitude to Dr.S.Sudharssanam

for his extra ordinary support and services rendered to SIT and SITAA for the last four years. Further I pray the Almighty to shower the best health and cheer in rest of his life.

I express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr.S.Sudharssanam, Mr.P.Srinivasan, and Sri.S.Sangappillai, Principal SIT for their continued support and cooperation in

Re-Union Meet – SIT Alumni 1987 ADSC Batch

One of the ADSC Alumni’s felicitation

(Late) Sri. Ananthanarasimhachar, former Principal, SIT started an unique under graduate

course in mechanical engineering at SIT known as “Associate Degree in Science” in the year 1987 had the evening classes with three years duration with 82 students admissions.

The syllabus for this course was above the level of diploma programme. These students completed the programme in the year 1990 and occupied good positions in several leading organizations. This batch of students with ADSC [Mechanical engineering] arranged Re

Union meeting for the past five years. This year this reunion meeting was arranged at SRM hotel, Tiruchirappalli on 29-04-2018. Sri.N.Raju, Vice principal and HOD/ Mechanical

engineering was invited as the guest of honor Sri.N.Raju briefed the ADSC alumni of SIT about the activities of SIT Alumni Association and informed them to become the life members of SITAA for which they agreed.

PARENTS – TEACHERS – STUDENTS MEET ON 16-05-2018

SIT arranged a meet with the students and their parents to impart the safety precautions to

be adhered at paper mills during the In-plant training, a partial fulfillment for completion of

diploma programme in paper Technology.

This meet is arranged for students of paper technology.

Parents of 55 students attended the meet.

Sri.N.Raju, Vice Principal, SIT and faculty members of Paper Technology department had

discussions with the students on the following factors and adherence:

1) Rules and regulations prescribed by the paper mills

2) Safety precautions 3) Self discipline 4) Punctuality & attendance

5) Inter personal skill within the company The meet was conducted with active participation of the students and parents.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY:

The International Yoga day was celebrated in our Institution on 21.6.2018 by our NCC unit,

by performing Yoga followed by health awareness program conducted by Army.

A total of 92 cadets from Seshasayee institute of Technology, Pattukkottai Polytechnic

College and Jayaram College of engineering participated in this event followed by a lecture

program by Army personnel on health awareness and Physical fitness.

INAUGURATION OF FIRST YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE

Seshasayee Institute of Technology celebrated its Inaugural function of first year Diploma

Programme classes for the year of 2018 -2019 on 25th, June 2018 Monday. The Collector of

Tiruchirappalli district Sri.K.Rajamani, I.A.S. inaugurated the function by lighting the

“Kuthu Vilakku” followed by his inaugural address. On his Inaugural address, he motivated

the students to come up in their life with flying colours. He expressed the Divinity of our

founder (Late) Sri.V.Seshasayee for his “Vision Par Excellence”. He appreciated that

students are fortunate to be the students of S.I.T.

He confirmed the placements of the budding Engineers are very Bright. Sri.G.M.Rajendran

Vice President, SITTA presided over the function. Sri.S.Sangappillai, Principal, SIT

welcomed gathering. Sri.N.Kanaga Sabapathi, Vice President-TANTIA, Sri.M.Duraivel,

Secretary SITAA, Sri.N.Raju, former Vice Principal, SIT, Sri.A.N.Asokan, HOD, Civil, SIT,

Sri.K. Saravanan HOD, EEE, SIT and Sri.N.Prasanna Venkatesh, Asst Vice President, Ansal

Properties & Infrastructure felicitated the function.

Highlights: Out of 260 Students admitted in the first year diploma course, the first student

admitted scored 495 out of 500. Further 25 Students who scored more than 450 marks out

of 500 got admitted in the first year. This shows the tall reputation of SIT since 1952 till

date.

Harvester with Enhanced Output” on 13th April 2018fromNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,

TIRUCHIRAPPALLI. She has published five papers in the International Journals

Mr.N.Prasanna Venkatesh alumnus of SIT, Civil branch

passed out in 1988 is promoted from Senior General Manager to Asst. Vice President- Projects in Ansal Properties & Infrastructure Limited, New Delhi.

He is currently in charge of Cost Verification and approval of the Projects having a turnover of Rs.800

Crores. He is an active EC Member of SITAA involving himself for its growth.

SITAA Congratulates our shining alumnus for this elevation and wishes to reach higher altitude in his career.

RETIREMENT

Sri.N.Raju is an alumnus of SIT, passed

out in 1979, Mechanical branch. He served at High Energy Batteries (India)

Ltd., Mathur from July 1979 to January 1984

He joined SIT as Instructor in 1984 and rose to the level of Vice Principal, SIT.

He received “Shri. P.K. Das Memorial Best

faculty Award” for Best faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the year 2018 from Nehru College of Educational and

Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. Sri.N.Raju retired from this Institution on

superannuation on 31.05.2018 with a total experience of 39 years both in Industries

and Teaching. SIT arranged a farewell meeting to Sri.N.Raju on 18-06-2018.

Sri.N.Raju thanked all for their

overwhelmed affection shown during his service in SIT SITAA wishes him for a peaceful happy

retired life.

Highlights - Students of Paper Technology : In 2018, 50 students passed with first class in Diploma in Paper Technology, unique course only in SIT for the whole of India.

45 Students were placed so far in paper mills, out of which placement of 9 students in Crown Paper Mills, Abu Dhabi, and 3 Students in ITC Ltd, Badrachalam, 10 Students in

Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited, Erode. SIT & SITAA appreciates the students of paper Technology for their splendid performance.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME

The Placement and Training cell of Seshasayee Institute of Technology organized a Career

Guidance program from 25.06.18 to 30.06.18 (six days) for the final year students of all the

branches of Diploma program.

This program was conducted by Mahindra Pride School of M/S Mahindra Automobiles Ltd.,

Chennai under its Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme. The Mahindra pride school

deputed five HR trainers to our institution to enrich our students to face the forthcoming

campus interviews by the leading industries. The training has well-designed course content

and conducted effectively to reach the students. The students were trained in soft skills,

interview skills, group discussion, extempore speech, Resume preparation and time

management. The trainers also conducted mock interviews and exemplified the pros and

cons of the student’s performance in the interviews. At the end of the program the students

were excelled in their performance during the different sessions.

Renovation of Hostel facilities :

The mess, bathrooms and dining hall were to be renovated due to aging. SIT Alumni belong to 1980 batch came forward to renovate the hostel facilities. Renovation work was carried

out to a total expense of Rs. 5.0 lakhs approximately. SITAA appreciates and thanking Sri.P.Suresh & Sri.S.Ananthakrishnan of Navaneetha Promoters, the key coordinators and all alumni involved in organizing this renovation work.

NOTICE – ISSUE OF IDENTITY CARD TO MEMBERS OF SITAA

SITAA requested members to furnish the details relevant for printing ID cards. SITAA felt

that the minimum details required to be furnished in the Identity Cards, are not available

with SITAA, for most of the Alumni.

Therefore SITAA Members registered with SITAA are requested to go through the SITAA

WEB SITE <www.sitalumni.in> for the Alumni details, and the individual details may be

verified. Members can make correction / amendment to the existing available details right

from the Initials of the name, address, email id, Year of passing, branch, blood group etc.,

for incorporation in the ID card. Also please provide passport size photo in jpg format. (size

maximum 10 KB) Above details may please be sent to the following email IDs.

SIT FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS:

It is glad to inform that the Founder’s day celebration of Seshasayee Institute of Technology

is scheduled on 14-08-2018, Tuesday at 10.00 AM.

SITAA ALUMNI DAY CELEBRATIONS :

SITAA AGM is scheduled on 14-08-2018, Tuesday at 02.00 PM followed by SITAA’s Alumni

day celebration in the evening.

All are requested to attend the Founder’s day, Alumni day celebrations and AGM of SITAA.
