Introduction

Page 3: Site report

The week before last week, Ms. Ang brought us to a construction site at old klang road beside the building Pearl International Hotel. The construction site is currently building a shopping mall with 6 floors of car parks, 2 basements floors, 3rd floor to 6th floor and 18 floors of apartments from 7th floor to 24th floor. Lower Ground, 1st floor and 2nd floor is the shopping mall.

Upon arriving on the site, Mr. Jivanatham, safety and health officer brief us about the safety rules before we can enter the building. After briefing, he brought us around with another 2 contractors. They walked us around explained everything to us.

The companies and people that are involved in this project was : -

1) Main contractor: Encorp Construct Sdn. Bhd. 2) The Employer: Aikbee Timbers Sdn. Bhd.3) Architect: L.T. Leong Sekutu4) Civil & Structure Engineer: Perunding Majujaya5) Mechanical & Electrical Engineer: Kew & Associates6) Quantity Surveyor: PCM KOS Perunding Sdn. Bhd.

This project cost around 100mil according to the contractors, and they estimated that this project will finish in 2 years time. According to my eyes, I would say 30% of the building is done.

main contractors there.

Conclusion

During the time when visiting this construction site. I definitely learned and see a lot, in terms of construction items and how it works. I saw how the workers made straircase and it’s formwork. I also saw the small wooden house that the workers lived in and how they go through everyday.

I also experienced the weather situation on the construction site, it definitely feels hot and tired. That experience made me get ready for the future working life if I ever manage to be on site a lot.

I managed to also experience climbing up and down the scaffolding, as the main construction workers there let us tried. It was quite fun and scary at the same time because the height of it was quite tall, it will be difficult for those who are scared of heights.

In conclusion, I really experienced and learned a lot during this site visit, by looking and walking around inside the building that is under constructing. It was definitely a good experience and will help me know what it’s going to be like in the future.
