What minimum safety equipments you should carry if you are to open a new site?3. What actions are required by construction managers for implementation of safety management at site? Safety Management at SiteFirst entry at Site: An induction training is a must on every new site. It helps know to site condition, entry norms, likely hazards, methods to meet Emergency ( telephone numbers, hospital etc). What minimum safety equipments you should carry if you are to open a new site? Emergency vehicle, drinking water, First aid kit, fire Extinguishers, PPE like safety helmet, safety shoes and hand gloves.3. What should be your action plan?The following action plan be followed Get the plan approvals / drawings : It must be ready with proper approvals by the customer showing site battery limit (boundary).Verify physical condition of site w.r.t. Condition of Air, land and Water resources.Line Out: Basic measurements to establish site boundaries. Chalk marking with respect to reference point.Site Barricading: Site barricading is a must to avoid unauthorized entry and exit. (E) Entry points: There should be at least two entry and exit points.(F) Precinct: Due consideration should be given to the outside environment i.e. Road, school, hospital, residential area, offices, river/sea, jungle etc. Location of batching plant, labor colony, material movement will depend upon the outside situation.(G) Slope of land: Managing rain water flow during monsoon. Initial design of storm/rain water drain. Decision of locations of stores etc.(H) Climatic conditions of site location: Heavy rain fall dewatering / pumping capacity. Drain lines, permission for dewatering. Extreme temperatures- Job rotation / break, cold drinking water, place to rest under shade . Extreme cold - Wind velocity, seismic zone(I) Other Infrastructure: Temporary electric supply, approach roads, Creche, other facilities.(J) Soil Quality: know soil strength, underneath structure and under ground service lines, method of excavation.(K) Transport facility: If labor camp/ staff camp is located away from site, transport facility has to be provided.(L) Positioning heavy equipments: O/H high tension lines, batching plant, tower and other cranes, lifts and hoists, concrete pumps, mixers, steel yard etc. (M)To take care of site safety on routine basis site should have Safety policy , safety manual and site specific plan that will indicate organization structure, assembly place, safe evacuation route.(N)On the working site it is necessary to have safe access to potable/ drinking water at many places ( distance of 25 meters), facility for regular health check up and tie up for accidental treatment with nearby hospital.(O) It is a must to register the organization and site working location at the nearest police station and manage visits of police authorities if needed.(P) Site incharge should immediately look for the following: Appointment of safety representative by the sub-contractorsTeam for safety induction Safety committee Tool box talk on regular basisSafety survey to identify hazardsSafety trainingWork permit systemSafety violation reporting mechanism and auditPositioning of fire extinguishersAccident investigation and reporting mechanismMIS daily, weekly, monthly reports and display system at site
