overtothegraveyardwherethemeetingwas
scheduledforthenextday.Itooktheoppor-
tunitytoclarifysom
eissues.Firstlythearts

hisartstrikeof1977

anditwasnotpodsitedasastrikebutawith-

nal1970NewYorkArtStrikeAgainstRacism,Warand
Repression,counteractedatthetimebyWomenStudentsandArtistsforBlackArtLiberation(WSABAL),whosuc-
ceededinopeningtheprotestactiontowomenandpeople
ofcolour.
MontyCantsinquestionedtherelevanceofanartstrike
today.HepositedLathamsideaoftheincidentalpersonashowartistsarenotspecialisedasotherworkersare.WhileI
cannotagreewiththatpositionbecauseartistsareindeed
culturalspecialists,idoagreethatartstrikeneedstobe
supersededwithadataminersandpsychicworkersstrike
inconcertwithotherworkersstrikestocreatethegeneral
