Painting With White Border, Wassily Kandinsky

Join associate director Alan Paul of Shakespeare Theatre Company on July 7 as he directs a staged

reading of John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation at The Phillips Collection. In celebration of the

museum’s latest exhibit, “Kandinsky and the Harmony of Silence: Painting with White Border,” Paul

and his cast of 17 will retell the award-winning play about a young con artist who makes his way into

the home of two wealthy New York art dealers by showing his admiration for their two-sided Wassily

Kandinsky painting. One side shows control while the other screams chaos, these themes recur in

Guare’s masterpiece as the art dealers slowly learn the hidden truth behind the boy’s identity. 1600
