“Six Elements of

Righteous Judgment”

(Matthew 7)

Judge Not! Really?

(Matthew 7:1) "Judge not, that you be not

judged.

Page 4: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

Six Elements of Godly Judgment:I. Examine Yourself First (vs. 1-

6)

Page 5: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

• (Romans 14:4) Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. (NKJV)

• (Romans 14:14) I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. (NKJV)

Page 6: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Romans 2:1-3) Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for

you who judge practice the same

things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you

think this, O man, you who judge those

practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape

the judgment of God? (NKJV)

Page 7: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Matthew 23:3-4) "Therefore whatever they tell you to

observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works;

for they say, and do not do. "For they bind heavy burdens, hard to

bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will

not move them with one of their fingers. (NKJV)

(Matthew 23:23-24) "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,

hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and

have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and

mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. "Blind guides, who

strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! (NKJV)

Page 8: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(1 Corinthians 9:27)

But I discipline my body and bring it into

subjection, lest, when I have preached to

others, I myself should become disqualified.

(NKJV)

(Luke 6:32-34) "But if you love those

who love you, what credit is that to you?

For even sinners love those who love them. "And if you do good to those who

do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even

sinners do the same. "And if you lend to those from whom

you hope to receive back, what credit is

that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. (NKJV)

(Matthew 7:7) "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;

knock, and it will be opened to you. (NKJV)

Page 11: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Romans 12:20) Therefore "If your enemy is

hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his

head." (NKJV)

(Luke 13:28) "There will be

weeping and gnashing of teeth,

when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all

the prophets in the kingdom of God, and

yourselves thrust out. (NKJV) (Luke 13:23-24)

Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And

He said to them, "Strive to enter

through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to

enter and will not be able. (NKJV)

Persecutions Will Come

(Matthew 5:10-12) Blessed are those who are

persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of

heaven. "Blessed are you when they revile and

persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you

falsely for My sake. "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for

great is your reward in heaven, for so they

persecuted the prophets who were before you. (NKJV)

(2 Timothy 4:2) Preach the word! Be ready in season and out

of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. (NKJV)

Page 17: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Ephesians 5:11)

And have no fellowship with the

unfruitful works of darkness, but rather

expose them. (NKJV)

(2 Thessalonians 3:14)

And if anyone does not obey our word in this

epistle, note that person and do not

keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.

(NKJV)

(Isaiah 5:1-7) Now let me sing to my Well-beloved A song of my

Beloved regarding His vineyard: My Well-beloved has a vineyard On a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and

cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring

forth good grapes, But it brought forth wild grapes. "And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of

Judah, Judge, please, between Me and My vineyard. What more could have been done to My vineyard

That I have not done in it? Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, Did it bring forth wild grapes? And now, please let Me tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned; And break down its

wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will lay it waste; It shall not be pruned or dug, But there shall come up briers and thorns. I will also command the

clouds That they rain no rain on it." For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, And the men of Judah are His pleasant plant. He looked for justice, but behold, oppression; For righteousness,

but behold, a cry for help. (NKJV)

Page 20: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(John 15:12-17) "This is My commandment, that you love one another as

I have loved you. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. "You are My friends if you do whatever I

command you. "No longer do I call you servants, for a

servant does not know what his master is doing; but I

have called you friends, for all things that I heard from

My Father I have made known to you. "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you

should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should

remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. "These

things I command you, that you love one another.

(NKJV)

having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from

such people turn away!

(NKJV)

(Romans 10:10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto

salvation.

Page 23: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Matthew 7:22) "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord,

Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name,

cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'

(NKJV)

Page 24: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(Luke 11:28-32) But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear

the word of God and keep it!" And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, "This is an

evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. "For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. "The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the

earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here. "The men of Nineveh will

rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah;

and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. (NKJV)

VI. Judge Others By Testing if What They Do is Founded Upon Christ and His Teachings (vs. 24-29)

Page 26: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(1 Peter 2:6) Therefore it is also contained in the

Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by

no means be put to shame." (NKJV)

Page 27: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

(James 1:23-27) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of

liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion

before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep

oneself unspotted from the world. (NKJV)

Page 28: “Six Elements of Righteous Judgment” (Matthew 7)

• Jesus Said…• “…he who hears My word and believes in Him

who sent Me has everlasting life…” (John 5:24)• “…if you do not believe that I am He, you will

die in your sins.“ (John 8:24)• “…Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark

1:15)• “…whoever confesses Me before men, him I

will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” (Mat. 10:32-33)

• "He who believes and is baptized will be saved…” (Mark 16:16)

• “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you…” (John 15:14 – live a faithful life)

• (Revelation 2:10) “…Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. “
