History of Skateboarding

•Skateboarding started around the 1950s, when all across California surfers got the idea of trying to surf the streets.

•Skateboarders used wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels attached to the bottom.

(ISF) is formally organized and incorporated as Skateboarding’s International Federation and World Governing Body.

•The league was founded by Pro Skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2010. Street League Skateboarding was created to foster growth, popularity, and acceptance of street skateboarding worldwide.

•Street League Skateboarding and the International Skateboarding Federation announced a strategic partnership as the SLS endorses ISF recognition by the International Olympic Committee as the official skateboarding federation. As a result of the partnership, SLS and ISF will work together to create an official guideline for the best practices for street skateboarding competition.
