Sketching Sketching is one of many drafting techniques. It is a quick way to show an idea that would be difficult to describe with words alone. Industry uses many sketching techniques to develop engineering concepts. A good sketch shows the shape of the object. It also provides dimensions and may include special instructions on how the object is to be made or finished. Proper Sketching Equipment: - Properly sharpened F, 2H or HB pencils - Standard-size paper (8.5X11) - A good eraser How to properly Sketch In sketching, a line is drawn by making a series of short strokes. It is recommended that light (thin) construction lines be drawn first so corrections will be easier to make. - For right-handed people, your lines will be drawn from left to right. Vertical lines will be drawn from the top down.
