ADBU is a premier university in the North East India, devoted to the advancement of Science & Technology by providing technical education in a range of disciplines. “With rubber production reaching a saturation point in Kerala, all eyes are on the North east for increasing availability of this vital input. Tyre industry has already submitted a study report to the Government for increasing competitiveness of the North East region. It is important that a robust skilling ecosystem is created both in rubber plantation and manufacturing sub-segments so as to make the most of the resources. ADBU-RSDC tie- up is a major step in that direction”, said Ms Meghna Mishra, CEO RSDC after the signing up process. Under the arrangement, ADBU shall offer the facility of dual certification programme to the students pursuing graduation final year, to provide them with the RSDC’s skill certification as well. This will help create industry ready manpower in the region, for Rubber Sector. Besides, ADBU will be introducing rubber skill based programmes in various departments under its aegis. "As rubber sector progresses and contributes significantly to the economic growth of India, it becomes increasingly important that we should focus on advancement of skills that are relevant to the emerging economic environment", said Ms Shewani Nagpal, Sr Director - RSDC.     Assam Skill Conclave puts spotlight on Skilling in the Northeast

    As one of the largest such gatherings convened to draw a road map for the skilling in the country and especially in the Northeast, Skill Conclave 2018 organized by Assam Skill Development Mission brought on board top officials of NSDC, Mission Directors of State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs) and CEOs of Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) . Aptly titled “Come, Learn from the Experts”, the Skill Conclave had a symposium with candid interaction with veterans of the field.

    A highlight of the event, which also underscored the priority accorded by Assam to the field of skilling, was the presence of Chief Minister of Assam himself who spent considerable time at the Conclave and showed keen interest in the deliberations.

    The Commissioner & Secretary Ski l l Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Assam welcomed all the dignitaries. A presentation on Skill Conclave and initiatives taken by ASDM was made by ASDM Mission Director Mr Anand Prakash Tewari.

    The Skill symposium was studded with topical sessions on the themes of Sharing of Best practices by SSDMs/NSDC, Importance of RPL in Skilling Ecosystem, Entrepreneurship & Self Employment and National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.

    Ms Meghna Mishra, CEO of RSDC represented the Rubber & Tyre Sector and apprised the audience with an Overview of the sector. Rubber sector, which is making inroads in the North East, came in for lot of interest and discussion at the symposium. Participating in the session, Ms Mishra said, Rubber & Tyre represents one of the fastest growing manufacturing sectors in the country. As a manpower intensive sector, Rubber & Tyre offers immense possibilities for creating large employment opportunities for the youth today.

    A Job Fair cum Skill Exhibition was also organized as a part of Assam Skill Conclave.

    DDU GKY Training and Placement in Punjab

    In a slew of skill training, the Punjab Skill Development Mission had awarded RSDC's affiliated, Sri Krishna Education Trust, in Ludhiana. The short term training project was conducted under the DDU GKY scheme. So far 125 trainings have already been conducted for the job roles of Junior Rubber Technician and Compression Moulding Operator. The students are completing their On-Job-Training (OJT) at Hartex Rubber Limited, Metro Tyres Limited and Poddar Tyres Limited. The students have received offer letters from respective organizations, which they can join after completion of their OJT.
