Physical Development
We will be focusing our learning in these areas:
Games – Continuing to develop our skills of performance, speed, accuracy in Tag Rugby, taking part in a Rugby festival
at St. Laurence.
Gymnastics – Developing gymnastic sequences using apparatus and props with a focus on matching and mirroring in
pairs.
Learning dances from World War Two
Knowledge & Understanding of the World
We will be studying what life was like for evacuees during World War Two, including:
•Finding out about the Blitz and women at war
•Learning about rationing and creating our own recipes
•Finding out about life in our local area during the war and the experiences of those around us
•Finding out about the effects of the war both at home and abroad
•Hosting a coffee morning to share experiences and memories of WW2 evacuation
•Learning WW2 songs
•Continuing to plant and cultivate our dig for victory garden and our privilege area.
Our science this term is a study of Forces, including:
Looking for surprises in science and questioning results
•Friction and air resistance
•Magnetism
•Planning investigations
•Thinking scientifically
•Working with evidence
In ICT, we will be consolidating skills learnt in Term 1by creating a WW2 PowerPoint. We will also be creating
spreadsheets for our Christmas party
Communication, Literacy and Language
We will be focusing our literacy skills on our Evacuee topic, including:
•Comparing and contrasting different texts, including ‘The lion, the Witch and the wardrobe’, ‘Carrie’s War’
and ‘War Boy’
•Writing recounts based on our discussions and interviews with guests about evacuation and war
experiences and memories
•Biography and autobiographies
•A creative fantasy writing project
Creative Development
Through our Evacuee topic, we will be learning WW2 dances and songs
We will be creating our own rationing recipes using only ingredients available during WW2
We will be researching people’s experiences of the war, including hosting a coffee morning on Monday 28th
November 2011

In RE we will be continuing to reflect on on our own beliefs and values, through the story of ‘I am David’ - including what makes us afraid, what we believe
about God and what makes us special.
Learning
Developing lifelong learning skills is central to all that we do. This term we will be focusing on:
•Identifying the skills we need to learn and setting personal learning goals for term 2
•Developing the learning community in our class, including becoming independent, resourceful
learners
•Knowing how we learn and ways to improve our learning
•How to be a great learning partner
Mathematical development
We will be focusing on the following learning:
•Learning tables •Developing thinking skills
•Handling data- Lots of practical maths, involving interpreting
and creating different types of graphs•Reading scales and conversions
•Probability•Problem solving and real-life maths
