Essay Writing Competition, October 31, 2019 To commemorate the Constitution Day and help students appreciate Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's undertanding of Indian society as reflected in his autobiography "Waiting for A Visa" and its reflection in the writing of Indian constitution, Ambedkar Study Centre (ASC), organized an essay writing competition on Thursday, 31.10.2019. The students were asked to write essay on any one of the two topics: Relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Experiences of Social Discrimination and Injustice in the Present" Or Reflections of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's Autobiographical Note in Various Provisions of Indian Constitution The essay writing competition received wide enthusiasm among students. The Winner and the next two runners- up were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 1,200/-, Rs.1,000/- and Rs. 800/- respectively along with medals and certificates. Consolation prize was given to all the participating students.

Seminar on "Concept of Justice: Ambedkar &

Rawls", November 11, 2020 To Commermorate the Constitution Day, Ambedkar Study Circle (ASC), SLC also organized a

seminar on the topic: "Concept of Justice: Ambedkar and Rawls", that was held on Monday

11.11.2019 at the Seminar Hall, Shyam Lal College, Delhi. Prof. Narender Kumar, Centre for

Political Studies, School of Social Science, Jawahar Lal Nehru University was the Keynote

Speaker on the occasion. Dr. Karunakar Patra, Department of Political Science, Dayal Singh

College, University of Delhi and Dr. Harish S. Wankhade, Centre for Political Studies, Jawahar

Lal Nehru University, New Delhi were other Guest Speakers to deliver their lectures on the

above theme.

National Webinar on "Corona Crisis: An

Ambedkarite Perspective", May 12, 2020

Ambedkar Study Circle (ASC), Shyam Lal College, organized the webinar, "Corona Crisis: An

Ambedkarite Perspective", in collaboration with IQAC, SLC on May 12, 2020. The national

webinar was an attempt to understand the prevailing atmosphere of unprecedented

humanitarian and health crisis arising out of Corona/COVID pandemic, vis-a-vis the impact it

has made on subaltern groups and seek framework, solution or directive that could be

formulated by churning out the philosophy of Baba Sahib Ambedkar.

Dr. Sandesh Wagh Sir, Prof. and Head of the Department, University of Mumbai was the

Keynote Speaker on the occassion. Dr. Pravin Borkar, Department of History, Telraja College,

Mumbai University and Dr. Seema Mathur, from Department of Political Science, Kalindi

College, University of Delhi, were the other esteemed speakers.
