This is the Early life of Herodotus:
Herodotus was born in 485 B.C. in the Greek city of Halicarnassus.
Halicarnassus was a commercial center on the coast of the Asian minor.
The arrow on the left points to the city of Halicarnassus.
Herodotus was born to a wealthy merchant family.
Slide3:
Childhood of Herodotus:
Herodotus had an chaotic childhood. When he was young, the Persians
came and conquered Halicarnassus , his home town. Lygdamis, a tyraant,
came in charge. He was a very cruel tyrant. The people of Halicarnassus
hated him and started many rebellions. Herodotus’ family was part of this
anti-Persian rebellion. After this rebellion, Herodotus left the city and
never came back again.
On the map, The green color shows the greeks while the orange color
shows the extent of the Persian empire. Again, the arrow points at
halicarnussus.

Herodotus traveled from city to city. He went to almost all of the Persian
territories. He has also been to many parts of northern Africa.
His favorite city however, is always Athens. He always returns to Athens
after every journey.

Slide 5:
Death of Herodotus, the hero.
Herodotus came to the city of Thuria, Italy. In the city he was editing one
of his most famous books called “The Histories”.
In 425 B.c. he died there of an unknown reason.
But, some other sources say he died in Bodrum, Turkey.
Slide 6:
Here are some of the main achievements of Herodotus:
Created a map of the entire Europe and Northern Africa.
Herodotus wrote down reports of battles including Battle of Marathon,
which provides first hand information for historians today to learn further
information about the battle.
He worked on a project called “The Histories”. It contains an exclusive
amount of information about the Greco-Persian Wars. In the book, there
are also many information about Alexandria and Carthage.
Slide 7:
Well, after all, why should I be the man of the era?
This is because:
I provided most of the battle reports from the greek-persian war. These
reports help many present-day historians to understand the Greeks.
I was also some of the first to make a map of Europe, without me, there
may not be another map of Europe until way later in the history.
Slide 8:
