2. Slovak parliamentary election, 1994 Early elections held in Slovakia on 30 September and1 October 1994; were urgent after 1992 governmentof Vladimr Meiar was recalled in March 1994 byNational Council with new temporary governmentformed by Jozef Moravk simultaneously. Governing Movement for a Democratic Slovakia(HZDS) lost seats, but nonetheless remained largestparty in National Council with more than three timesas many seats as second-place Common Choice, aleft-wing alliance, which also lost seats. After election, HZDS formed left-wing nationalistcoalition with Union of the Workers of Slovakia (ZRS)and Slovak National Party (SNS). 3. This proposal was passed byParliament on 9 February; thePresident signed it on 13 February. First election in which Slovak citizensliving outside Slovakia could vote, withabsentee ballots.
