Garth Cairns, CEO of SlurryKat says, “We are delighted to partner with Guy Machinery in the UK. This new partnership adds to our active network of dealers and will certainly open up new regions for us within the UK.

We know the UK market extremely well and we know that our equipment is very well received by the hundreds of systems we have already supplied to farmers and contractors. To have this opportunity to work with a growing distributor such as Guy Machinery, will only help strengthen and spread awareness of the SlurryKat brand throughout Lancashire and Yorkshire.”

Graham Guy, Managing Director at Guy Machinery says, “We are excited to have been appointed by SlurryKat to supply the full range of products in our area. We have been working on this deal for some time now and we are

Dribble Bar Slurry System Making Work Easier for New Zealand Farmer

The Dribble Bar slurry spreading system from SlurryKat, is making work a lot easier for a New Zealand farmer.

Jim and his wife Sandra Cooper, farming at Winton, New Zealand, wanted a means of reducing their workload, speeding up the task of slurry application and preventing the damage to pasture and races that can occur with tanker spreading. They chose a Slurrykat dribble bar system for their farms and for some contracting.

The ‘umbilical’ method of slurry/manure application involves pumping the material from a storage pond using a Doda pump via a pipeline to a tractor-mounted dribble bar applicator.

The Coopers have three farms with 1400ha of dairying and dairy support land, milking a total of 1800 cows. They will be pumping the waste up to 2km from their ponds and hope to achieve work rates of one million litres per day or more.

Surprisingly, as SlurryKat’s export sales director, Drew Linton states “Some SlurryKat customers in Europe and North America are pumping material 8-9km from storage with staged pumping.”

Once the system is set up and the delivery line is laid to the paddock and connected, the applicator unit is then driven up and down the paddock towing the drag hose. Work rates are typically 200m3 per hour. Application rates range from 1mm to 10mm per hectare. Paddock and race damage are minimal; the tractor and applicator traverse the paddock only once until it is covered.

When shifting between paddocks the pump is switched off remotely and started again in the next paddock. The model bought by Jim has a 12m spread width and folds for easy transport.

The pumps come in a range of output sizes and are PTO, electric or engine driven. Pumps can be supplied with a return hose to keep the pond agitated. The delivery line is mobile and flexible, made up of 200m lengths of lay-flat hose of 100, 125 or 150mm diameter. SlurryKat can supply hydraulically driven front or rear mounted hose reels to lay or retrieve the delivery line with ease from the tractor seat.

The dribble bar lays the effluent in confined lines, 250mm apart with a recommended delivery height of 300-500mm. “This reduces air surface area on the effluent, preventing odours and nitrogen loss and placing all the material on the ground without splashing so the grass can be grazed sooner,” said Drew Linton.

When the pond has been emptied the delivery line can be flushed clean by compressed air or the line rolled up with the last of the material being returned to the pond. With a GPS system and flow meters, applications are accurate and recorded.

By Tony Hopkinson, Dairy News, New Zealand

Jim’s system is powered by a DODA HD35, which has the highest bar pressure and it is the No. 1 pumping system for farmers and contractors. His LAYFLAT HOSE is the OROFLEX range, which SlurryKat have on exclusive 3-year warranty, which Jim found beneficial.6

SlurryKat Dealer Hosts Open Day in Ahatri, Finland

Our Finnish distributor, Y-Agro, recently hosted an open day at Kantoniemi Farm, Ahtari, Finland. This saw Y-Agro putting the SlurryKat umbilical system to the test on a vast area of land.

It once again demonstrated the flexibility of the SlurryKat system, allowing umbilical spreading on any site using the mobile slurry storage tank. The system has the ability to apply slurry to wet/steep land or even a remote area where a heavy tanker can’t travel to. With the added advantage of a fast return on purchase investment (typically seen 100% pay back in 12-18 months maximum), it makes the system extremely attractive to all farmers and slurry contractors alike.

The demonstration by Y-Agro also highlights how user friendly the system is with minimum soil/ground

compaction. In using the system a farmer or contractor is facilitating the retention of the maximum amount of nutrients contained in the slurry so as to give high forage or crop yields, greatly reducing the need for compound artificial fertilisers.

The system demonstrated included:

• Oroflex hose (has a 3 year warranty as standard, underlining the high quality of the hose)

• SlurryKat hose handling reeler (front linkage mounted)• Doda HD 35 centrifugal high pressure pump • Slurry supplied to the site via a mobile storage tanker

feeding into the Doda pump• Spreading with a disc injector system and dribble bar

system.

Y-Agro (Suomen Yrittäjien Maatalous Oy) has its headquarters in Hyvinkää, Finland and offer customers a range of high quality, value for money, agricultural products and equipment.

We were delighted to exhibit a range of SlurryKat products at the recent Agrishow in Stjørdal, Norway with our dealer Hektner Maskin. Amongst the products on display were Dribble Bars, Doda Pumps, Lagoon/Slurry Mixer and Front Wheelers.

Taking place every other year, with approx 200 exhibitors, the Agrishow in Norway is extremely popular with the farming industry. It attracts more than 30,000 visitors over a three day period and ensures that farmers get the opportunity to compare the many different brands of machinery available.

With over 30 years’ experience, SlurryKat’s distributor in Norway, Hektner Maskin is extremely knowledgeable and can offer advice to farmers and contractors wishing to save money and increase production with SlurryKat equipment. Having carefully listened to the market, the company has developed over the years and offers customers a wide range of solutions to suit their requirements.

National Fieldays, Hamilton, New Zealand

In the summer of 2014, we exhibited at the National Fieldays in Hamilton, New Zealand. There we displayed the SlurryKat Tanker, Dribble Bar and DODA Pump.

Fieldays strives to produce the strongest platform for companies to launch agricultural products and services to New Zealand and the world. Last year they welcomed more than 125,000 people through the gates to carry out business with 900 exhibitors representing the best of New Zealand’s agriculture industry.

Many people were impressed with the quality of the SlurryKat machinery on display. As a result, farmers in New Zealand are beginning to see the working benefits of this machinery. (See pg.6)

“Cream of the Crop” at Craigavon Business AwardsSlurryKat walked away with three awards at its local council business awards, including accolades for Manufacturing Excellence, Best Export Initiative and the prestigious 2014 Craigavon Legacy Award for highest achieving business within the borough.

The company is no stranger to success on this platform with this being the third successive year we have come away with an award.

I am absolutely delighted to win these awards. To come away with not one but three awards on the night is just incredible and a credit to the entire SlurryKat team.

These awards reaffirm our commitment to engineering world-class equipment for the agricultural industry, not only locally but internationally. We have really established the export side of the business over the past year and to be recognised in this way just makes everything worthwhile.

Big Reduction in Costs for Swedish Farmer Using SlurryKat Equipment

A Swedish farmer is reaping the benefits since purchasing SlurryKat equipment. Gastav Hilmer has spread 14,000m3 so far this year using the SlurryKat system (comprising of a Swing Up Dribble Bar, Front and Rear Reelers, 1000m Bak Pak and a Trailed Reeler).

The reason for purchasing this system was to avoid driving heavy slurry tankers on the land, which they found, was causing major soil

compaction issues. By switching to a SlurryKat system, they have totally removed these issues, with no compaction. They are now seeing even more benefits of running a small tractor on the land with little weight.

Gustav Hilmer says, “Our experience of SlurryKat has been far beyond our high expectations!...Take one example; in the past, we experienced harvesting losses and higher drying costs due to increasing amounts of ‘green shoots and grain pickles’ in the compacted tracks left from the heavy tankers spreading the slurry. Now there are no tracks or green areas where the crops have been slower to grow from the soil compaction.”

Gustav also mentions another advantage of the system, “We can run even if it has started to rain with no mud on the roads which was always a problem with the tankers”. He finshes by saying, “We want to take harvest yields to over 10,000 kilograms per hectare, but to do this, we need to take care of our land. We can now do this better than ever now with the SlurryKat system.”

Our experience of SlurryKat has been far beyond our high expectations!“

VISIT US AT LAMMA 21st & 22nd Jan 2015

LAUNCHING OUR NEW LOW LINE DRIBBLE BAR!Also on Display: 18000L Tanker with 15m Dribble Bar, Doda Pumps, Front Reeler & More...

This new Dribble Bar model, available in both 7.5m, 9m and 12m now features an ultra lowset macerator which greatly improves visibility for the operator during and after spreading when reeling up the hoses. This ensures a more efficient operation. On a standard Dribble Bar, the macerator usually sits quite high up, so this new Dribble Bar caters for operators who prefer having more visibility whilst not compromising on the spreading, which this SlurryKat model promises to do.

This model still comes with the standard features we have come to expect from SlurryKat including hydraulic folding and flow-meter ready. At the Lamma show it will be the 9m model on display complete with the revolutionary SlurryKat Bak-Pak. As with all SlurryKat equipment, this new low-line Dribble Bar has been developed through extensive research, testing and listening to customer feedback.

Also on display will be a 18000L Tanker complete with 15m Swing Up Dribble Bar; Submersible pump range; Doda Pumps range; Road crossing ramps; 800m Front Reeler.
