It is also famed for its high mountain peaks and range of hiking opportunities. With a very limited number of annual visitors, the country remains an exclusive and authentic destination, showing pristine landscapes and a fascinating heritage, largely untouched by external influences. Bhutan is also the only carbon negative country in the world, with the highest proportion of forest cover in Asia, and almost 5 million acres of protected land that is rich in forests, pristine rivers and thriving wildlife.
