START YOUR ENGINES!With School Breakfast

• We started our engines in high gear, ready to fuel up for success and drive participation here at Gulf Breeze High School. The cafeteria was decorated with racing themed items as well as posters created by the cafeteria crew. Coca-Cola provided us with life size cardboard cutouts of several race car drivers.

• We were off to a good start when the school was visited by School Board Member Wei Ueberschaer who greeted and helped serve along side Principle Brothers and nutritionist Tracy Cooper.

• Several of our students competed in a county wide poster contest. One of our students placed 4th, earning him a pizza party with his class and a certificate.

• Students that participated by eating a nutritious breakfast were entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Echo Dot. Several students qualified, only one took home the flag.

• SGA students came out to support National School Breakfast Week. They greeted and helped fuel their fellow classmates minds for high performance.

• ITV helped get the word out by making daily morning announcements, encouraging the students to race on down to the cafeteria and take advantage of school breakfast. The marquee was set and ready to roll.

• In place we had our healthy menus for success.

• We revved our engines for a fast start to get our students quickly on track. When starting flag dropped with great excitement and strong participation, we reached for the following proven results for school breakfast:

• Higher levels of achievement in Reading and Math

• Higher scores on tests

• Better Concentration and Memory

• Increased Attention and help maintaining a Healthy Weight

Our sincere thanks go out to the supporters, vendors, student government, including Principal Brothers and the rest of the faculty for supporting this program. We also thank local media and parents as well as the cafeteria staff that works so hard to make our programs a success. The nutrition of our students is paramount in both their overall well being and continued scholastic excellence. The ongoing support of programs like this by the School Board is another reason Santa Rosa County Schools continue to excel. Thank You!
