Sophisticated technologyDeveloped by Dr. Ted Hasselbring and his team at Vanderbilt University, FASTT Math employs the research-validated FASTT algorithm (Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology) to build fact fluency. Designed to carefully manage cognitive load, the FASTT algorithm helps students move facts from working memory to long-term memory by strategically interspersing new facts with fluent facts, controlling response time, and providing instant corrective feedback.

FASTT Math is the result of over two decades of research conducted by Dr. Ted Hasselbring, Co-Director of the Learning Technology Center at Vanderbilt University. This research on using technology to provide instruction and intervention is the basis of the FASTT algorithm.

Simple ImplementationFASTT Math’s implementation model couldn’t be easier—students in Grades 2–9+ work independently on the computer for just 10 minutes a day, 3 to 5 times a week. The FASTT Math adaptive technology manages the pace, level, and multimodal instruction, personalizing learning for each student.

All students—including Title I, Special Education, and at-risk students as well as students learning math facts for the first time—will build fact fluency fast.

rigorous new Content Helps Meet new College & Career readiness goalsThe Common Core State Standards call for students to be fast and accurate with facts in all four operations by the end of Grade 3 in order to succeed in higher-order mathematics. Students are also expected to develop number sense by understanding relationships between numbers and within operations.

FASTT Math Next Generation is the only fact fluency program that also includes games specifically designed for more rigorous Common Core objectives, covering:

Inverse relationships

Recognizing unknowns

Multi-digit operations

Associative and commutative properties

Number composition

Fact families

FASTT Math is the perfect companion to RTI, supporting students in each tier with high-quality instruction while simultaneously monitoring student performance and growth.

Powerful Data Drives Management & reportingDashboards and reports are powered by the Scholastic Achievement Manager (SAM), a comprehensive online management system, which collects and clearly organizes student performance data and accountability requirements, and supports district-wide data aggregation. With nine actionable reports at their fingertips, educators automatically have the information they need to fine-tune instruction and improve student performance. Progress reports can be easily shared with families, administrators, and students.

The NEW Teacher’s Edition provides a detailed overview, Common Core State Standards alignments, and additional lessons for struggling students.

Watch your Students get Fluent Faster As one leading cognitive scientist says, “The brain is addicted to success.” That’s why FASTT Math Next Generation is built from the ground up to feed your students’ addiction. Watch them get fluent faster with the NEW Student Dashboard, which allows students to see themselves moving forward every day while gaining ownership of their learning. After all, nothing motivates like success!

My ReportsStudents always know their progress and growth in FASTT Math. The Common Core State Standards call for students to grow increasingly independent, so FASTT Math provides opportunities for students to monitor their own growth, providing a solid foundation for setting goals.

My Fact GridThe Fact Grid acts as each student’s personal GPS. Students can see where they are and where they need to go. While students systematically unlock facts as they progress through the program, the Fact Grid showcases the math facts that a student knows fluently and the facts still to be learned. “Focus facts,” the facts currently being worked on, are presented in small instructional sets to carefully manage cognitive load.

My Personal BestBy celebrating success, My Personal Best challenges students to reach new personal milestones and mark their growth.
