    Mounting HyPix-3000 on SmartLab

Mounting position of HyPix-3000 and receiving optical device for 0D and 1D measurement mode For the normal 0D and 1D measurement mode, mount the following devices on the theta_d arm of SmartLab in order from the sample side: standard receiving slit box # 2, receiving optics unit # 1 (ROD), receiving optics unit # 2 (RPS), optics of HyPix-3000 and HyPix-3000. The names of variable axes of the receiving slit box # 2 are as follows:

Receiving slit: RS1 Height adjustment axis: Zr

Also, limiting the active area of HyPix-3000 functions as a virtual receiving slit. The name of each device is as follows:

  • Mounting HyPix-3000 on SmartLab

    8 SmartLab + HyPix-3000 System

Mounting HyPix-3000 and receiving optics for 0D and 1D measurement mode This section explains the procedure to mount HyPix-3000 and receiving optics on SmartLab for 0D and 1D measurement mode.

1 Mount HyPix-3000 on SmartLab. ① Mount the HyPix-3000 on the theta_d arm of SmartLab so that the

reference line of HyPix-3000 points at 350 mm. Then fix it with the Allen wrench provided. The reference line of HyPix-3000 is positioned at +50 mm from the detection plane. Thus, the detection plane is actually positioned at 300-mm camera length (goniometer center - detection plane distance).

Camera length and reference line (The camera length is set to 300-mm in this picture.)

② Connect the cable to COUNTER of the receiving connector box. At this moment, we recommend attaching the protective cover on the detection window of HyPix-3000. It prevents the detection window from being damaged while mounting optics and HyPix-3000.

When using HyPix-3000 with SmartLab in 0D and 1D measurement mode, it needs to be mounted at 300-mm camera length.

  • Mounting HyPix-3000 and receiving optics for 0D and 1D measurement mode

    SmartLab + HyPix-3000 System 9

2 Mount an RPS adapter and a parallel slit. ① Mount the RPS adapter and the parallel slit in front of the HyPix-3000,

and fix them with the Allen wrench provided.

② Connect the cable to ADPT2 of the receiving connector box.

3 Mount an ROD adapter and a parallel slit.

① In the same way as step 2, mount the ROD adapter and the parallel slit analyzer in front of the RPS adapter and the parallel slit, and fix them with the Allen wrench provided.

② Connect the cable to ADPT1 of the receiving connector box.

  • Mounting HyPix-3000 on SmartLab

    10 SmartLab + HyPix-3000 System

4 Mount receiving slit box # 2. ① Press the receiving slit box # 2 against the positioning screw on the

theta_d arm, and fix it with the Allen wrench provided.

② Connect the cable to SLIT2 of the receiving connector box.

Be sure to connect the cable of receiving slit box # 2 to SLIT2.

5 Remove the protective cover (if attached) and insert a mask slit into the detection window.

Mounting HyPix-3000 and optical devices is now completed.

After this, perform initialization of the axes in the SmartLab Guidance. (Refer to Chapter 14 "Initialization of axes" of "SmartLab Guidance Reference Manual".)

  • Mounting HyPix-3000 for 2D measurement mode

    SmartLab + HyPix-3000 System 11

Mounting HyPix-3000 for 2D measurement mode This section explains the procedure to mount HyPix-3000 on SmartLab for 2D measurement mode. Generally no receiving optics are mounted between HyPix-3000 and a sample in the 2D measurement mode. HyPix-3000 can be mounted at any position within the range of 150 - 300 mm camera length. For the camera length setting, subtract 50 mm from the position of the HyPix-3000's reference line.

Reference line of HyPix-3000 (The camera length is set to 300-mm in this picture.)

Mounting HyPix-3000 for 2D measurement mode is now completed.

After this, update the configuration for the currently mounted optical devices in SmartLab Guidance.

  • Using the vertical mount holder for SmartLab (optional)

    SmartLab + HyPix-3000 System 15

Using the vertical mount holder for SmartLab (optional) The HyPix-3000 can be positioned vertically by using the vertical mount holder for SmartLab (optional). By mounting the detector vertically, the data can be obtained from a wide 2theta range in a single scan.

Horizontal mount holder (standard) Vertical mount holder (optional)

1 Procedure to set the mount holder (vertical mount) for SmartLab ① Loosen the four screws on rear side of HyPix-3000 and remove the

    mount holder (horizontal).

② Turn the HyPix-3000 around so that its detection plane faces the right side. Place the mount holder (vertical) on the rear side of HyPix-3000, and fix it by tightening the four screws in the reverse way of step ①.
