Since 1987 JURA engineers have developed

software and hardware for the prepress of the

security printing industry.

The specific skills for creating a security

design from images, and for the

development of high resolution CTPs for

printing plates were the basic know how for

the development of the new IQ-R

authentication feature.

The principle: optical recognition

The guilloche line in pantone colour will be

reproduced by a colour copy machine of

the latest technology with CYMK dots in the

following way:

Passive fingerprint solutions scan a material fingerprint

(like the paper fibres structure) on a sheet of paper

and store it into a data base. For authentication the

scan on a product has to be repeated, and

compared with the first scan. This happens via

internet from the data base. The solution requires

internet for the authentication.

In the classification of security features the

emerging smart phone authentication

features are divided in passive and active

fingerprint technologies.

Digital Signature:

Fingerprint: A stochastic structure is

implemented into a print. Again a scan of

this fingerprint can be compared with the

original scan, which is stored in a data base.

Jura has developed an app, which can authenticate

the active fingerprint offline. However in the presence of

an internet network the app will send the authentication

result to a data base for statistical processing.
