CHUM Hospital

The Opportunity

The Centre Hopitalier de l’Universite de Montreal (CHUM) Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the city of Montreal. The CHUM is a teaching hospital and is affiliated with the University of Montreal equipped with a level 2 trauma center and 1259 beds. The CHUM began as a network of three hospitals; the Hotel-Dieu de Montreal, the Hopital Notre-Dame, and the Hopital Saint-Luc. These three hospitals merged and decided to create a mega-hospital to become more efficient in delivering patient care.

The Solution

Standard Metal Hardware was involved in the construction of both the Phase 2 and Building A by providing a vast number of door hardware products door as well as thousands of stainless steel protection plates. In a medical setting, it is imperative to protect walls and doors from frequent impact of stretchers and wheelchairs. Custom sizes of plates and custom frame wraps, edge and corner guards ensure that the walls and door frames are protected and last. Being able to ship a large quantity in a short turnaround time was imperative for this project. The distributor and customer turned to Standard Metal Hardware because of their vast experience in this type of project along with fast turnaround that allowed the project to be completed in a timely fashion.
