The workshop aims to examine the development of anenergy storage technology to pilot plant scale andoperation incorporating the various developments,processes, preparations and management issues involvedin progressing a technology to an energy storage pilotplant stage.

About the workshop leaderIan initially spent over 10 years within the utility sectordeveloping flow battery energy storage technologies fromlaboratory to commercial scale demonstrators. His keyfocus was in the technology development andmanagement of electrochemical flow battery systems,materials, membranes and operational facilities in the UK,Europe and USA. Ian has since spent more than 10 years asan energy storage consultant initially working as a programmanager and technical expert on several energy storagetechnology programs totaling an investment of over £17Min hydrogen, flow battery, and lithium ion energy storageand their subsequent commercial exploitation. He nowsupports various utilities, energy storage developers andchemical/materials companies as consultant programmanager/director/CTO or acts as a technologydevelopment and management consultant and technicalexpert in the field of energy storage also providingtechnology due diligence to several international clients.
