STUDENT SPOTLIGHT – CASEY JACOBS

Smithville I.S.D. Community Newsletter & District Information: Website: www.smithvilleisd.org

CONGRATULATIONS!

Casey Jacobs, a senior at Smithville High School is planning on

a career in the medical field as a Pharmacy Technician. Casey

says that his parents have taught him a lot about life and the

value of hard work. Casey’s mother, who is a Pharmacy

Technician at Smithville Pharmacy, has been his influence and

wants to follow in her footsteps. Casey is in his third year

working for Gary Bayer at Smithville Pharmacy and takes his job

seriously. When asked about his job responsibilities at the

pharmacy, the first item he lists is ‘customer service’. His work at

the pharmacy also consists of filing prescriptions, answering

questions about over-the-counter medications, making home

deliveries, inventory control and cleaning.

Congratulations to the Tiger

Band for earning all 1st division ratings at the UIL Marching

Contest in Giddings!

2013 Lady Tiger

Volleyball All-District

Honors: Valerie Harmon Defensive

MVP, Addison Willmon 1st Team, Cadie Jones 2nd

Team, and Courtney Brinker, Courtney Stinson,

Shawna Randall and Leslie Wilhelm earned

Honorable Mention.

As if school doesn’t provide enough opportunity for completing projects and testing, the

pharmacy requires that Casey completes required yearly training on topics including

Blood-borne pathogens, the HIPPA Law and Pharmacy Law to name a few. When it

comes to his high school classes, Casey is well aware of the importance of good study

habits, time management and taking care of his school work. He’s learned to efficiently

manage his time as he juggles school and work. Stewart Burns, who is Casey’s Career

Prep teacher at SHS, stated without hesitation that Casey’s strengths include that he is a

focused, dedicated and charismatic individual.

reminiscing about the past with a slide show set to

music, and ‘catching up’.
