Snowy owls have incredible vision. They also can see from high in the sky and find their prey easily at night or day . They also rely on their keen hearing.

The male snowy owls are whiter than the females. Females never become completely white. They range in size from 20 to 28 inches. Their wingspan is 4.2 to 4.8 feet.

The snowy owls love mainly in the Artic in open, treeless areas called tundra. They are active during the day, especially at dawn and dusk.

They perch on the ground or on short posts. Their favorite target is lemmings. They also hunt small rodents, rabbits, birds and fish and wromes.An adult eats up to 5 lemmings each day.

Snowy owls have yellow eyes and black beaks. Feathers cover their legs and feet.

The snowy owls mate for life. The female lays from 3 to 11 eggs at a time in a nest build on the ground.The female sits on her eggs until they hatch. After a month they hatch.

The young snowy owls leave the nest about a month after they hatch. They can fly well at a month and half.In the wild snowy owls can live for 9.5 years and in captivity for 35 years.
