Important News: Pastoral Emergency Care
We have pastoral emergency coverage for our
congregation. If you know of a need for emergency
care please call the church office (496-3814) and
leave a message if Cynthia is not there.
We have a church officer checking the answering
machine three times a day when Cynthia is not
working and in the evening on the days she is
working. Pastors from area churches have
volunteered to help us during our time of transition.
Any questions please email Lois Dunikowski at
Ministry Meeting
Ministry Meeting is
Tuesday, July 9
at 7:00 PM.
All are welcome to attend.
Come and join one of the
ministries of your church.
Council has decided to return to holding the Ministry
meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00
PM. We begin together with devotions and prayer
followed by individual ministry meetings to discuss and
plan the business of our church. Anyone in the
congregation may attend. We encourage everyone to
consider offering your unique gifts and talents to any
ministry in which you feel called to participate. As a
reminder, our ministries are Education, Stewardship,
Mission, Worship and Nurture. Please join with us in
doing God's work for our faith community!

Bible Quiz
Numbers 22 contains a little-known
account of Balak, king of Moab, and
Balaam, a practitioner of
divination. Feeling threatened by
the Israelites’ presence near his
land, Balak summons Balaam to
come and curse them. What
strange event does God use to get
Balaam’s attention so that he
blesses, rather than curses, Israel?
A. Balak’s men turn into pillars of salt.
B. The sun stands still in the sky.
C. Balaam’s donkey speaks to him.
D. An angel makes Balaam mute.
Answer: C (See Numbers 22:22-35, especially 28 and 30)

Joys, Memories and God’s Gifts
In this new column of the newsletter we invite you to share your "JOYS": births, graduations, weddings and
other special moments in your life. We also invite you to share "MEMORIES": of loved ones and events that
enriched your life. Photos may accompany your "Joys" and "Memories." Sharing "GOD'S GIFTS" may be a
beautiful sunrise or sunset, a flower, a child's wonder or a peaceful scene captured in a photo or anything
else you consider a gift from God. Please have your submissions into the office by the 20th of the month.

Board of Deacons
Food Pantry - The food pantry welcomes all donations. Especially needed for July are: saltine
crackers, hot or cold cereal, canned vegetables and canned fruit. Needed for August will be:
canned or bagged beans, macaroni & cheese, canned vegetables and rice. Please add at least
one of these items to your shopping list. Donations can be placed in the wicker basket outside
Hazekamp Hall.
Coffee Hour Needs - All kinds of cookies are welcome. Thank you all for helping the Deacons
keep the kitchen stocked!
Prayer Shawl - The Deacons are so happy to have this special ministry to help with their
shepherding.
E Prayer Circle - Please contact Lois Dunikowski at [email protected] if you have any
prayer requests.
Emergency Use of the Church Building - If any person in our church family is without power,
water, or heat, and needs to use the church as a safe haven, please contact your deacon
shepherd so he or she can direct your need to the appropriate ministry elder(s).
The Deacons are very happy to serve the members of this congregation. Please let your
deacon shepherd know if he or she can help you in any way. (There is a list posted on the
bulletin board in the Denniston Room if you are not sure who your deacon shepherd is.)
The Mission of the Church
There are more people on this planet outside the
Church than inside it. Millions have been baptized,
millions have not. Millions participate in the celebration
of the Lord’s Supper, but millions do not.
The Church as the body of Christ, as Christ living in
the world, has a larger mission than to support, nurture,
and guide its own members. It is also called to be a
witness to the love of God made visible in Jesus. Before
his death Jesus prayed for his followers, “As you sent me
into the world, I have sent them into the world” (John
17:18). Part of the essence of being the Church is being a
living witness for Christ in the world.
