“Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,
but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.”
Today’s Gospel of John is set in the context of Jesus’ last words to his disciples the night before He died. Here Jesus is speaking not only to the disciples but to the heavenly Father. In his prayer, Jesus asks that his followers be united as one as He and His Father are one. The unity of his followers will give witness to the world that the Jesus in whom they believe, and whose teachings they follow, was indeed sent by the Father. The unity of the Father and the Son, the love between the Father and the Son – this is the same unity and love that Jesus prays will be the experience and the witness of all who believe in Him!
As you might have noted in last week’s Bulletin, we again had a very successful Lenten shoe drive to benefit the parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish in Reading, Jamaica, and the boxes are ready to go. However, like the previous drive, our Parish bore the expense of shipping the boxes to the Food to the Poor offices in Miami, who then ships them free for us to Jamaica. In order to save this expense, I would like to ask if anyone is planning to drive to Miami in the next few weeks with a large SUV or van and would like to take them for us, we would be extremely grateful. Or, if anyone has any contacts with shipping companies or vendors that could ship them for us at a reduced cost, or any other ideas, please see me. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way…!”
As we approach the summer months and vacation time, I want to appeal to you one more time to please consider a one-time or ongoing gift to our Archbishop’s Annual Appeal that helps so many people in dire need, ministries and programs in our communities. To date, we have pledges of $25,386. and received $20,885. from only 71 families towards our goal of $31,903. Additionally, to receive a rebate directly to our Parish from this appeal we need to exceed our goal. I am extremely grateful, on behalf of our Archdiocese, to all those who continually sacrifice to donate to “Sharing God’s Blessings” for the Archdiocese and give so willing and faithfully to our own Parish every week throughout the year! We depend on your weekly tithing so please also remember that the “Parish Giving” link is on the top-right corner of our Parish website: www.ihmcmahwah.org while you’re away!
I want to congratulate all our students who will be graduating from elementary, middle and high schools as well as colleges this month. May God Bless them and watch over them as they embark on the next stages of their life! Let us also pray for all our children and youth that they will have a safe, relaxing, fun and prosperous summer in every way!
God Bless you all. Have a beautiful and safe week. Fr. Jacek

The recent wave of news about sexual abuses committed by Catholic clergy and coverup by church leaders has left many of the faithful in emotional turmoil regarding their relationship with the church. Amidst the other difficulties the situation presents, how do dioceses and parishes find a way to minister to these hurting parishioners? Healing Our Church will help the faithful deal with the complex emotions this scandal has caused and start on the path to healing and renewed discipleship. Join us in the Parish Center!
