reading from the New International Version

Prayers of The People and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

sometimes where Eden’s flowers bloom,by waters still, o’er troubled sea, still ‘tis God’s hand that

leadeth me!Refrain4. And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory’s won,e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee since God through

by her husband and left with few prospects to earn an income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Razia and her children sought refuge in a spare room at the local mosque. Razia’s son did small jobs to earn money, but it was not enough to sustain the family.

Fortunately, the family was selected to be recipients of a food assistance project run by Community World Service Asia, a partner of Presbyterian World Service & Development. Monthly cash transfers were provided to 1,100 vulnerable families, including many who had returned to Afghanistan from Iran. “We were blessed as the cash helped us to purchase essential groceries. I have also bought warm clothing for

my children so the winters will be warm and comfortable,” Razia said.

is for Christians in every province and territory to spend this summer doing prayer walks with the purpose of preparing hearts to be open to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Imagine if every neighborhood in Canada was being prayed for. We believe our country would be different as a result.Going for a prayer walk is as simple as it sounds – walk throughout your neighbourhood and pray.So why a challenge? Billy Graham once said, “I don’t know of one person who ever responded to the Gospel who wasn’t first prayed for.” If our neighbours are to come to faith in Jesus Christ, it must start with us praying for them. Then let’s pray and believe that God will change our country one heart at a time through spiritual transformation.

What can you do?Take a walk – with a purpose. Walk through your neighbourhood and as you go, ask God to make himself known to neighbours who live next door, across the street, down the alley, and around the block.

Pray for your communities, your towns, your cities and for Canada. Pray for our government leaders.

How do you start? Commit to a regular time and stick with it. Be persistent in your effort to

reach your neighbours with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Walk alone. Not only are you interceding for others, but this will also deepen

your personal relationship with God. Walk with a friend or a group. “Two are better than one, because they have

a good reward for their toil…” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). As you walk – notice “the little things” – like bicycles on lawns (pray for

the children who ride them); “For Sale” signs (pray for families trying to sell their homes); trampolines (more evidence of kids who need prayer!); gardens (pray for them to grow and bless families); signs of landscaping and home improvement (pray homeowners have success with their projects). Little signs are everywhere, take notice.

Pray for people. Offer to pray for people who cross your path and be open to opportunities to share the Gospel.

Take note of answers to your prayers – nothing encourages us to pray more than seeing God answer our prayers in the first place!

Build momentum across Canada by inspiring others to take up the challenge and pray. Share a photo on your social media and use the hashtag #prayerwalkchallenge before or after your walk.

Take up the Prayer Walk Challenge – Challenge others to do the same!____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

We are called to pray for our church, its ministry, our community and our world. Prayers for guidance, wisdom, direction, compassion, energy, new ideas and blessing would all be appropriate. Please remember to pray each day!
