THE EVENT

FEEL THE ROAR

Nothing ignites the senses more than the elegant sights

and rumbling sounds of some of the worlds most

amazing supercars, classics and motorcycles. On the

journey to, and then at Sydney Motorsport Park, the

Special Olympics Australia athletes are transported in

more ways than one into another world of high octane

excitement. And not just for the athletes, but for the

families, volunteers and friends as a way to express

appreciation for a team effort. A fantastic fun day out.

WATCH THEM SOAR

Now in its third year, the Soar & Roar Festival is the most

important and most prominent social engagement and

fundraising activity on the Special Olympics Australia

calendar. Whilst the Festival leads with a major athlete

celebration and Dream Ride opportunity, the Soar & Roar

Festival also provides Special Olympics Australia with an

opportunity to illustrate a number of sports

demonstrations to showcase how it’s programs transform

the lives of people with an intellectual disability.

HEAR OUR ROAR

There will be lots of opportunity to cheer on the athletes at

the various Dream Ride departure points, as they enter

Sydney Motorsport Park, during their Dream Rides, the

Special Olympics Australia sports demonstrations and as

they take to the Dream Stage.

Special Olympics Australia volunteersprovide sports opportunities for all people

with an intellectual disability regardless

of their skills, and they do this every week

in communities right across Australia.

While some Special Olympics athletes

strive to win medals, others enjoy the

chance to get active, have fun, make

friends and be part of a family. Whatever their motivation, we

cater for them by providing meaningful sports programs

delivered within a supportive environment where people with

an intellectual disability are accepted and can feel proud.

People with an intellectual disability are often ridiculed,

misunderstood, isolated or simply ignored. Yet, with

the understanding and support of Special Olympics they

discover the skills that allow them to improve their health,

develop self-confidence and bring joy to themselves, their

families and their community.

Through sport we allow people with an intellectual disability to

demonstrate what they can do, rather what people think they

can’t.
