Some are small, local issues effecting individuals, neighbourhoods or communities while others are bigger issues effecting people right across the world.
Governments are finding it harder and harder to solve them.
Society needs social entrepreneurs that can come up with new and original ways to harness peoples talent, enthusiasm and goodwill to tackle them once and for all.
For example;
The Big Issue magazines tackles homelessness Jamie Olivers restaurant 15 tackles youth unemploymentThe Eden Project tackles environmental educationCafedirect tackles sustainable farming in the developing world
What they all have in common is that they make enough money from their business to support the social activity that the people involved care so much about.
They are businesses with a social goal.
