There is a diverse range of 40 Housing Associations operating in Birmingham:

large national providers, neighbourhood based providers and specialist providers. Each offering

range of skills, knowledge and expertise.

• Contribute £219 million GVA to the City’s economy

• Employ circa 6000 FTE in Birmingham

District opportunities

• HA’s are well positioned to assist in the delivery of a range of local services, through innovative commissioning models and long term partnership arrangements:

– The services can be based around individual needs, such as health, adult social care, troubled families

– Holistic service offering to improve social inclusion

– Neighbourhood based services around the clean, green and safe agenda

District opportunities

• HA’s maybe be able to offer practical support in administering the District Committees or providing venues for meetings and events.

• BSHP are willing to organise a District Convention on Housing to allow all districts and housing associations to discuss the issues and opportunities of meeting housing and community needs in Birmingham.

The 10 Districts

• Identified a few key HAs per district to have strategic discussion about how to deliver better more joined up services to tenants and residents in Birmingham.

• Examples of what HA’s can offer in an area: – Shared services: reduce duplication – Development of new homes for sale and rent – Regeneration: social and physical – Co-locations of services – Housing management – Environmental services – Community services – Care and support – Employment and skills support
