Social Justice Conference organised by PopularFront of India proved historic, a milestone mega
event. The flow of masses which has ultimatelyoverflowed the most sprawling ground in the nationalcapital was in fact countless. For Popular Front whichhas convened very big conferences in southern statesin the past, Delhi conference was a challenge. Evenwell wishers gave warning of a cold response that is thetradition of the capital city dwellers. But the peoplereached Ramlila ground in the bright Sunday morningof 27th November 2011 from various parts of Delhi andadjoining states of U P, Haryana and Rajasthan addeda new lesson to history that a right message whenhonestly campaigned could move the peopleaccordingly.
The sight of people coming to the conference ingroups waiving the Popular Front tri-color and shoutingslogan of “Popular Front Zindabad, Samaji InsaafConference Zindabad” was not an end itself, but thebeginning of a change, the birth of a people's movementto build this nation on justice.
Though the target audience was from Delhi andsurroundings, delegates from all states from far eastManipur to far south Tamil Nadu reached Delhi travellingmany days just to witness the conference which hadignited in them the hope of a dignified future. As theconference began the tiredness was replaces by greatenergy which illuminated the Ram Lila Maidan. Theeager faces of the people listening to the speechesdisplayed a show of courage, commitment anddetermination to bring a social change.
The Social Justice Conference was inaugurated on26th November 2011, 9:30 AM by the Chairman ofPopular Front, E.M. Rahiman by hoisting the PopularFront flag in presence of the National Executive Council
members and other delegates. The first programme ofthe conference was a Milli convention on the theme“Together for Empowerment: Dialogue with future” whichwas followed by a National Seminar “ People's right toJustice”. A cultural programme portraying Indianheritage was held in the evening. Similarly one of thehighlights and most attracting feature of the conferencewas the exhibition “Naya Kadam”.
A mammoth gathering started entering the RamlilaMaidan on 27th November morning. As the dayprogressed the venue was full of people from differentstates all waiting for the Grand Public Meeting to begin.It began at 1 PM with the Unity Song. It was indeed anunforgettable scene when thousands of people standingin respect for the unity song with the verses “ SareJahan se Acchaa Hindusthan hamara” on their lips. Thechairman of Popular Front of India, E.M. Abdul Rahimandelivered the presidential address. It was followed bythought provoking speeches by prominent activist,orators and leaders.
The eyes of the masses who attended the SocialJustice Conference were full of happiness to see thesuccess of the conference. It was a festival which doesn'tseem to end even as sun began to set. The massesshowed their determination to be with Popular Front in allfuture struggles. The confidence of masses won byPopular Front was one of the prominent achievements ofthe conference. Popular Front of India which was notvery familiar in the northern states has now reached eachand every nook and corner of the country.
The Delhi Declaration that was the concludingresolution of the Conference has called upon the peopleto move forward for realization of social justice andreiterated the determination of Popular Front of India tobe in the forefront of that movement for social change.
