51% of Guatemalans are poor.(6.6 million)

15.2% of Guatemalans live in extreme poverty.(1.9 million) or with less than a dollar a day to live.

28% of the poverty is in the city.

72% is in rural areas.

Indigenous groups are excluded from the social, economic and political mainstream due to Guatemala's complex topography they are isolated.

Many indigenous people speak many languages and dialects, but most do not speak Spanish, and this has kept them even more excluded.
