How to monetize social media with Skimlinks
Different channels require different kinds of content. Publishers know that and
embrace it every day in the content they’re creating.
We created fave.co for that reason: So our publishers can create different kinds of comtent
– commerce-related content – for their different channels. Almost 75% of consumers rely on
social media to guide purchase decisions (Digital Marketing Magazine, March 2015).
In the Publisher Hub and through our Google Chrome Toolbar extension you can access a
URL shortener and create affiliate links that you can share straight away on your social media
feeds, which we call “fave.co”.
This guide will explain how to use fave.co to monetize your social media, which can be very
lucrative: We now see publishers earning up to a third of their revenues on social media
through using fave.co.

be able to find
the tab for our
URL shortener.
You’ll then be
given a short
URL which
you can share
on your social
page. You can
then link from
homepages &
individual links.

Using the Editor Toolbar to create fave.co links
The toolbar will give you the option to create an affilate link you can share on your website or
a fave.co link for social, so choose whichever is appropriate.
Alternatively, if you install our Editor Toolbar Google Chrome extension, you can create,
copy and directly paste fave.co links into your social posts.
From the toolbar you can share straight to Twitter and Facebook, but you can also just copy
the link and use in your own posts later. You can also include fave.co links in Pinterest
and YouTube.
You’ll be able to see whether the Merchant is a VIP or Preferred Partner – which means they
offer a commission rate at least 100% or 50% better than the standard CPA rate – and
what their rate is.

Sharing fave.co links on social media
Place the links where you would have placed the normal one in the post and it will
work the same as an affiliate link on your website.
As soon as you push the post live, we will be able to track sales from the link, and as long as
someone clicks on your link and then goes on to make a purchase you’ll make commission
on it. We’ve included a couple of examples from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube
so you can get a feel for how to use fave.co:
Facebook is the world’s largest social media network and perfectly suited to being
monetized with fave.co. You can add the link to a post like normal and it will affiliate in
the same way as on your website.
Two tactics that our publishers are using effectively is creating a dedicated Facebook deals
page and pinning a fave.co link to a Facebook video. With the dedicated pages, publishers
avoid sending too many posts to their customers and can use their main page to promote it,
and encourage it to grow.
By pinning a comment to a Facebook video, our publishers have found an unobtrusive way
to keep purchasing front of mind and take advantage of the higher engagement videos can
drive over other posts.

Youtube Pinterest
YouTube ranks top for social video consumption and 74% of consumers say there’s a
link between watching a video and making a purchase (Tubular Insights, January 2017).
Monetizing your YouTube channel is easy too, all you need do is add our fave.co links to the
description box of your videos and we’ll be able to track any sales your videos are driving.
Pinterest often finds itself forgotten about amongst the other networks, but monetizing
your channel could be well worth it: almost 90% of people who pin a product, buy it
(Izea, November 2016). Moreover 93% of Pinterest users in the US access it to plan a
purchase (JustMedia, August 2016). Just slot a fave.co link into your pin and wait for people
to re-pin it themselves. Another advantage of Pinterest is that the shareable nature means
content has a high lifetime.

Twitter ranks top in the US, along with Facebook, for influencing purchase decisions. It’s
especially influential for electronics, where it’s the #1 online channel for influencing sales
(TheSocialSims, January 2016). The fact that it’s designed to share frequent posts lends
Twitter well to sharing affiliate links directly to your audience and it’s a great way to churn out
high volumes of content. .
