    Critiques:

    Inconsistent Tweeting

After scrolling past the month of October, there is only one tweet for the month of

September followed by a tweet from March 25th. A good twitter page should tweet

relevant information on a consistent basis.

    Random Spamming

While the idea of tweeting some inspirational quotes is a good idea, Beautiful Socials

Twitter page seems to spam them all at one time. Spamming too many quotes strays

away from the main goal of the page. While tweeting frequently is crucial to a good

page, tweeting just to tweet has a negative effect.

    Lack of Communication

Perhaps the biggest problem of all with the Beautiful Social Twitter page is its lack of

communication with its targeted audience. Over the last year and a half, there has been

little interaction between @BEAUTIFLS0CIAL and students. Students communication

with this page is crucial in helping it achieve its goals. In addition to giving out tips, this

page should also encourage students to share pictures, videos and artwork in support

    of their organizations.

@TwitCause not only tweets at the people responsible for their non-profits, it also

adds a fact about the organization and includes the website links. For example,

@drkent made a non-profit organization regarding texting while driving. TwitCause

put a relevant fact about the issue up (Those who text while driving are 23X more

likely to be in a crash.) in additon to putting up the sites link, itcanwait.com This is a

much more effective way to establish a relationship between the page and the non-

profit organization. TwitCause also tweets an update every Thursday that highlightsthe TwitCause. This idea is a great way to get twitter followers to check their page on

    a weekly basis.

affected by disasters and those looking to offer aid. They provide the most up-to-date

statistics. For example, Last night, nearly 9,000 people affected by #Sandy stayed in

    Social Media Strategy

@BEAUTIFULS0CIAL is a great concept and a helpful resource. However, like

any new organizations Twitter page, there are steps that can be taken to increase the

sites efficiency and effectiveness. A good approach to improving the page is to observe

successful strategies employed by other non-profits on Twitter.

While @BEAUTIFULS0CIAL has been tweeting consistently in the month of

October. As a whole, their tweets have been inconsistent. Aside from October, there

have been extended gaps between tweets. For example, there were no posts between

March 29 and September 25, 2012. @RedCross is a model of a site that tweets

consistently relevant information. This would be beneficial to @BEAUTIFULS0CIAL

because it would spread more awareness among students and present more

opportunities for them to get involved.

Tweeting inspirational and helpful quotes is a good idea. However, it is important

that an organization not overdo it and, thus, stray from its intended message. Forexample, @the1010project is an effective site that does not use quotes at all. Instead,

it focuses all its efforts on the task at hand. In place of quotes, @the1010project tweets

facts relevant to their cause. In addition to this, they post about events, which makes

it easier for their followers to get involved. Their Twitter allows its followers to see the

    issues of global poverty first-hand.

Seeing as @BEAUTIFULS0CIAL is a page that tries to help other organizations,

they should maintain communication with the non-profits they are assisting. A good way

of doing this is retweeting the causes tweets. Since last October, only two students

tweets have been retweeted on the Beautiful Social page. A site that is offering advice

should show their support by interacting with the causes. @TwitCause is a great

example of this, almost always retweeting or tweeting at the specific organizations they

are attempting to help. For example, they tweeted at an organization that is against

texting and driving. In the tweet, they included a statistic about texting and driving in

    addition to the organizations website.
