Assessments

There is one major test in Social Studies for Elementary Students: Grade 4 SOL

Virginia Studies   Third and Fourth Grade PAT:

The performance assessment task (PAT) is an assessment to be used at the end of a unit after the students have been taught the content.

The PATs access the student’s ability to demonstrate their deeper understanding of a “big idea” from the unit and apply higher order thinking skills.

Teachers can use the PAT as the main assessment tool for the unit in lieu of or in addition to other evaluation measures. Third Grade students will be taking a PAT twice this year—fall and spring—

the Third Grade PAT is designed to replace the Third Grade Social Studies SOL
