Health
People in homes with poor air quality can
experience a multitude of health issues, including
allergies, asthma and other breathing issues.
Costs
Heating and cooling aren’t cheap, especially
without proper ventilation. Homes that lack proper
ventilation can experience higher-than-average
energy costs.
Longevity
Without proper ventilation, the lifespan of the roof
and attic insulation can dramatically decrease. And
in some cases, it can even void the roof warranty.
Ventilation is the unsung hero of your home’s overall
function. When your home has proper ventilation, the
air quality rises, energy costs stay low, and your roof
lasts longer. When your home is suffocating, it can
have the complete opposite effect.

been tied to moisture buildup, mold, mildew and rot
in attics that contribute to illnesses including asthma,
allergies, and respiratory issues.

According to the Department of Energy and Habitat
for Humanity, “A combination of continuous ridge vent
along the peak of the roof and continuous soffit vents at
the eaves provide the most effective ventilation.”
For that reason, many of the top roofing manufacturers’
warranty is considered voided when proper ventilation
is lacking.

Soffit Holes or slots in the soffit maximizing air flow while stopping
things like bugs, leaves and other debris that could enter the attic.
Roof Vent Different options available to let hot air escape through the attic.
Airflow
Soffit vents are the inlets for free-flowing air in the attic that
circulate and eventually exit through a roof vent.
It’s pretty simple. You want air to enter through your
soffit and escape through your roof vent.
• With proper ventilation, cool, dry air is drawn from the soffit. This prevents hot, moist air buildup, and can reduce the temperature in your attic by as much as 50°F.
• Proper ventilation requires a Net Free Area (NFA) of 1⁄150. This means that for every 150 square feet of attic space, you need 1 square foot of ventilation.
• Air intake through the soffit must be equal to or greater than the exhaust through the roof vent. Building code requires that the intake vent dimension not exceed 1⁄4".
Point being, there’s a formula for proper ventilation.
And it’s important that the numbers add up.Air fl

How to use the Color Wheel:
Harmonious color combinations use any two colors opposite each other on the color wheel,
any three colors equally spaced around the color wheel forming a triangle, or any four
colors forming a rectangle (actually, two pairs of colors opposite each other). These color
combinations are called color harmonies.
The color wheel is composed of System, TruCedar and Vesta color options. We’ve provided
examples on how you can use the color wheel to help create color harmonies for your home.
These are only suggested pairings and not intended to cover the innumerable ways in which our
color offering can be mixed and matched.

Here’s how Quality Edge soffit stacks up against the competition.
Typical one foot soffit overhangs should have at least
an11 NFA, so when used on both sides of the home will
have a combined NFA of 22 to draw the air flow needed
to work with a ridge vent system.
All soffit is not created equal.
Quality Edge outperforms the competition in airflow and good looks.
