Soft determinismAdvantages:-Compatibilism- Holds the view of free will and determinism being compatible, therefore there are less contradictions and more flexibility.-Its subjective-it does not absolutize the view that everything is caused by external factors or we are totally free. ( doesnt contradict with any of the scholars of both sides eg. Aquinas, Locke)Disadvantages:-Hard determinists criticize soft determinists for failing to realize the extend to which human freedom is limited.-Also criticized by libertarians for failing to realize the true extend of human freedom.-Its difficult to draw the line between of what is determined and that which is open to choice due to the complexities of physics, genetics and psycology.-soft determinists have to agree on precisely what is and what is not determining factor and clarify what makes things not free.
