BEING AND BECOMING:
1. Soft skills (e.g.-emotional intelligence quotient)
complement hard skills (IQ)
2. Soft skills are believed to be unchangeable being innate characteristics which are part of one’s being
3. But, you will be on the way of becoming better with ability to develop soft skills.
WHY
1. To perform successfully a job-function you can reach the platform & perform well by
your technical skills acquired.
2. But to stay on that platform long and for rising to next level, understanding of natural abilities and implementation of soft skills is
crucial

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
1. Non verbal---face is the index of mind and clearly displays person’s interest
2. How you stand, move, appear to people3. Emotion of the sender & receiver
4. Verbal--- what you speak & how you put up your thoughts 5. Tone & intensity of speech
6. Most important is to listen patiently. 7. Give time & chance to express.8. Make the patient feel important.
9. Welcome with politeness and empathy.
Empathize! Put yourself into the shoes of
others…..
….so, Understand other’s situation
& act accordingly!
WRITTEN SKILLS
1. Writing evaluates person’s proficiency on
language, be careful as to grammatical and spelling errors.
2. Sentence composition errors, use of verbs, adverbs, adjectives, articles etc.
3. Errors committed while writing circulars, reports & records considerably spoil the
image of the writer.
INTER PERSONAL SKILLS:
1. Respect the views and sentiments of others equally. As you feel hurt or offended when such a
situation arises pertaining you or you being at centre of things, others do feel similarly, therefore, be
compassionate to all others. 2. When want to differ must express yourself politely
3. Avoid hurting others feelings4. Must try to resolve the conflicts and conflicting
views by due reasoning out the matter or issue or subject.

What are Interpersonal Skills?
Effectively translating and conveying information.
Being able to and accurately interpret other people’s emotions.

of his own.Try to identify each other’s
uniqueability and use it to work together.
In Healthcare Scenario…
Inter personal relationships have a paramount place in healthcare.
This is because healing process has a lot to do with faith, belief, trust etc. which can never develop without a strong, close bond between the patients and their healers.
THUS….
Good intentions of merely treating the patient honestly are not enough.
Good academic record and clinical skills may make you a good clinician but does not necessarily make you a good healer.
Healthcare providers have to modulate their speech and behavior to suit positive interactions both with patients and colleagues alike.
TEAM WORK
People of either gender, different age, qualifications, status & skills work as team for common objective.
The success of hospital depends upon co-ordinated efforts of all the team members
Must create an agreeableness & cooperation among team members.

today is impossible !!! Sunil : John !! Try to understand I need it today. John : No!! I don’t have time Sunil : You must. John : I already told you no.
Finally they depart without any conclusion.
Proper conversation…
Sunil : Hi John, how are you? John : Hi Sunil, fine Sunil : I saw your report, I think we missed some analysis in it. We may have
to prepare it again John : But why ?? Sunil : We are not getting any cost analysis from it and the meeting is for
cost analysis. John : I am not going to do it again, don't have time for it. I have enough to
do now. Sunil : John !! It is a requirement from the customer, otherwise whatever we
are doing now will also be of no use, I know you put in your best efforts into that report.
John : Sorry, today it’s not possible. to do it alone so quick also is not possible.
Sunil : I will send Vijay also to help you, and then time permits I will also join.
John : No need of you, if you can send Vijay then I will try to finish it today it self
Sunil :Thank you John John : It’s my job.
Finally they depart with positive conclusion
Work together so that even when anyone is stuck with some
problem-You are there to help!
You could also be good role model…
Lead by example. Act the way you want other people to act.Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Spread the word and make it something good.Do you say things that someone might repeat?
If yes, than make it something good.
CONCLUSION
Development of skills is a part of long learning
The process does not begin and end with job
It is something we have learnt as child Training alone is not sufficient condition
for actual behavior change, more importantly our intention to change has to be present
Fill each other’s loop holes and be an Effective Team Worker….
What to do ??????
Be kind.There is nothing better than someone saying "Wow, She is really a nice person.
Put kindness out and you will get kindness back.
Respect yourself and others too. Don't do things you will regret. You are the only person in control of you. Be a leader not a follower.
Think once……
My goal is not to be better, than anyone else, but to be better than what I used to be….
