Highlights of Key Functionalities of SoftCAAT

Function Brief Explanation

1. New Auditee andAudit

New Auditee command creates a new Auditee for the audits to be conducted.You can record descriptive details of the Auditee and each audit.

2. Import Wizard Imports the specified data file into its own database management system. User-

friendly Import wizard guides user through a series of steps and instructions forimporting the file into the Software.

3. Find Find command finds and highlights the specified search content present in thecurrent active file. The Find All Having command and Find next command will findthe first appearance of the search text. The Find All Records Containingcommand finds all the occurrence of the text to be found and filters the currentactive file based on the occurrence of the text.

4. Auto Filter The Auto filter command is similar to the Auto Filter in Excel. It filters and displaysthe rows that met the selected value from the Filter list.

5. Sort Fields Use sorting to display the data in the desired order on single field or multiplefields.

6. Identify Duplicates Use this command to detect whether key fields in the current file contain

duplicates in the sequence. It can be used to identify duplicates within a singlefield such as duplicate invoice numbers on an accounts receivable file. TheDuplicate Key Exclusion command identifies duplicate items in a file but onlywhere a further specified field is different.

7. Sequence Sequence command checks for duplicate or missing document numbers, such asinvoice or check numbers. Sequence always checks the designated key fields todetermine if they are in sequential order and reports in the results.

8. Identify Gaps Numeric, character or date. Detect gaps in the sequence on numeric, characteror date

9. Extract Selected data from a file for further investigation for creating a new file of logicallyselected records.

10. Export Creates an external file that can be used directly by other Software for further

processing. The External file created is of the requested format, containing thedata as extracted based on specified conditions.

11. Excel/HTML View Opens Microsoft Excel Application and displays the contents of the current active.You can save the file in specified name and path. HTML View command opensthe Microsoft IE Browser and displays the contents of the current active.

12. Stratify - Numeric,Date or Key Field

Stratification totals the number and value of records within each specified valueband and produces a stratification report. You can extract the specified records bydouble clicking on the relevant stratum of the stratification result view.Date Stratification command totals the number and value (of selected fields) ofrecords within each specified Date band.Character Stratification command totals the number and value (of selected fields)of records within each specified character band.Key Field Stratification command totals the number and value of records within

each specified value band and produces a stratification report, for each majorcontrol break as the major index field key changes.

13. Classify Counts number of records relating to each unique value of a character field andaccumulate totals of specified numeric fields for each value.

14. Aging Presents aged summaries of data. This summary may be based on the currentdate or a specified cutoff date.

15. MIS Analysis Perform analysis of transactions based on a periods such as Unique Date, Day,Month, Quarter or Year.

16. Statistics Provides the summary of the current active file. It quickly highlights abnormalitiesin the file, which can then establish a direction for subsequent approach oranalysis. Statistics produces summaries for each kind of data type i.e., Numeric,Date and Character data type.

17. SUMMARIZE Accumulate totals of numeric fields for each distinct value of the key characterfields. Key Field Summarization command accumulates the totals of numericfields for each distinct value of the key character fields.

18. Cumulative Total Create a field with the result of the cumulative total of the selected numeric fieldfor cumulative total.

19. Benford's Law Computes the number of occurrence of the number 1 to 9 in the first digit of anynumeric field in a file. It stratifies the numbers on the first digit sequentially from 1to 9. If the first digit is zero, the digit, which starts with greater than 0, is taken.

20. Join Files Combine the fields from two files and creates as a single file. Two files, indexedor sorted on the same key, are required to carry out this function.

21. RelationshipBuilder

Data required for analysis may be stored in different files. You can relate recordsfrom these different tables and perform analysis and get the report.

22. Compare Files Compares two files based on specified numeric field and reports on differencesbetween the two and also identifies number of records in each file for each key.

23. Append Files Concatenate two files. Append records of primary file in the Secondary File. Theappended file maintains the same record structure and the sorted sequence,which, has been maintained in the files selected for appending.

24. Sampling Systematic Sampling command is an objective statistical sampling method todraw a number of records with fixed interval from a file. You can also select a setof random record numbers from an internally generated seed, (or one provided byyourself), and selects the records associated with each random record number.

25. Templates Templates are available in SoftCAAT which guide user in performing specifictasks. For example: Template of Credit Period Analysis primarily is used to findrange of credit period and to confirm enforcement of Credit policy. The output ofthis analysis enables to find time taken by customers for paying dues in number ofdays starting from 0 day to 360 days.

26. Re-Run Task Captures some of the executed commands and stores as list. The executed setof tasks can be selected from list and re-run with same/different parameters.

27. Pivot Table Used to quickly summarize large amounts of data. You can rotate its rows andcolumns to see different summaries of the source data, filter the data bydisplaying different pages, or display the details for areas of interest.

28. Analytical Tool Designed to offer maximum flexibility and features for data analysis.

29. Audit WorkingPapers

Audit Table command facilitates to view the Audit Table, which displays thecommand executed on the File along with the Date and Time. The information willbe presented in a grid. Audit Log command is used to view the Audit Log sheet,which displays the command executed and the results of the performed task.The Audit log file shows both the commands along with the conditions set andsummary of the audit tasks performed.

30. Report Wizard Guides you with a series of steps for designing the report in the GUI Format. Thecommand provides the option of previewing the designed report through thewizard. It provides the option of saving the report in the *.txt, *.xls, *.doc, *. HTML,

*.rtf formats.
