TRANSCRIPT
The CILECCTA software will be a prototype based on the methodology of both LCC and LCA, making it possible to accomplish a probabilistic comparison between different kinds of alterna-tives within the construction sector. The soft-ware will be compatible with a variety of Euro-pean price banks and life cycle inventories. The experiences from the CILECCTA project will have the potential to contribute to existing and new international standards.
To help people understand Life Cycle Costing and Assessment (LCC+A) and how to use the software, the CILECCTA project is developing three elearning modules: Basic concepts, Demo project and CILECCTA software.Module 1 is now available to the public on the CILECCTA web page www.cileccta.eu

The CILECCTA project will also provide educa-tional material for three main target groups:
Vocational schools Building Industry enterprises University level
The material will be formed as professional training courses at these higher educational establishments.

The CILECCTA project is an international EU project with 15 partners from 7 European coun-tries. The consortium combines top class academics and industrial researchers, associations and business to develop a suite of Life Cycle Cost Analysis software. The aim is to improve industrialization and use of resources in the construction sector by providing options based decision support.
The CILECCTA outcome will provide a userfriendly interface that easily enables users to analyze the life cycle economic considerations and environ mental impacts of a construction project.
To be able to test the CILECCTA software, three demonstration projects are to be assessed. The hotel and resort company TUI AG is evaluating different kinds of energy systems connected to one of their resorts, while the construction company APIA XXI S.A. focuses on ways of con-structing a road. ACCIONA Infraestructuras S.A. is testing the software evaluating a multisource energy storage system integrated in a residen-tial building.

The longterm sustainability of construction projects is improved when design decisions are based on a lifecycle view. This considers both the initial investment of resources in a project and the resource demand during the project’s service life. The resource demand can be cal-culated in two ways: in terms of money, when the evaluation is called lifecycle costing (LCC), or in terms of environmental impacts, when the eva luation is called lifecycle assessment (LCA). Both aspects are important and the CILECCTA system will combine both, creating a tool for lifecycle costing and assessment (LCC+A).
