INTRODUCTION

The issue of lighting in rural areas is a serious challenge for the Cameroonian government. Using solar lamps is an alternative as the sun has proved to be a source of energy which is reliable and sustainable. It is for this reason that CECOSDA works to educate rural populations on the importance of solar energy for lighting. Through the project “solar energy for all” , CECOSDA engaged in the promotion of solar energy in the villages of west Cameroon so that households, markets, and particularly hospitals should be lightened.

•Recommandations1) The acquisition cost of solar

energy is still very high, the first recommendation is that more affordable solar energy solutions should be developed;

2) Priority should be placed on solar solutions for operating the water points, hospitals, and educational institutions.
