2. SOLAR ENERGY,, Id put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we dont have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. Thomas Alva Edison, 1931 3. It is a quantity that is often understood as the ability to do work. 4. Energy sources can be recognized as: Renewable Energy Sources Non Renewable Energy Source 5. Renewable Energy 6. SOLAR ENERGY Energy of sunlight used to provide electricity, to heat or cool homes, businesses or industries. Harnessed by humans since ancient times 7. Advantages The power source of the sun is absolutely free. The production of solar energy produces no pollution. The technological advancements in solar energy systems have made them extremely cost effective. Most systems do not require any maintenance during their lifespan, which means you never have to put money into them. Most systems have a life span of 30 to 40 years. 8. Disadvantages.. The primary disadvantage to solar energy is the upfront cost. Once installed, you can expect next to nothing on the system during the 40-year life span Solar energy can only be harnessed when it is daytime and sunny 9. RECENT ISSUES ON SOLAR M A I N E I N S I G H T S Earth Day marks anniversary of Natural Resources Councils solar array April 22nd, 2013 10. Installing solar panels in Maine Earth Day April 22 marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. And today the NRCM (Natural Resources Council of Maine) is celebrating the one-year anniversary. NRCMs solar array has produced 15,000 Kilowatt-hours in its first year. NRCM expects to save $32,000 over life of project. 11. President Carter inspecting a solar heating panel installed on the roof of the White House. Discovery Guides ProQuest Released December 2008 A solar water heater was installed in the White House, and photovoltaic panels first came into play, notably in California While previously solar power as a direct source of electricity had been limited to esoteric functions, spacecraft, companies began to form with the idea of using solar as a regular source of power for ordinary homes. 12. According to Greenpeace, The solar radiation reaching the earths surface in one year provides more than 10,000 times the worlds yearly energy needs. Yet the technological barriers to harvesting this energy are great re-garding collection, distribution, and storage. 13. GREEN BUILDING Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity Reducing waste, pollution and environmen tal degradation 14. Solar homes Any home uses freely available energy from the sun for heating, cooling, ventilating & power generation called solar home. 15. MEASURES OF SOLAR HOMES High cost or cost intensive measures. Low cost or cost effective measures. No cost measures. 16. 749,088 Solar Panels in Place at California Site TIMES OF INDIA JULY 7, 2013 . 17. sunPower and NRG Energy say panel installation is completed and a 250-megawatt California solar project will soon be fully commissioned. 50,000 home solar photovoltaic systems 749,088 panels. 18. Solar panels Packaged interconnected assembly of solar cells. Also known as Photovoltaic cells. Used in large PV systems to generate and supply electricity. Clean and environmental friendly. 19. Issues of solar panels 1.Roof condition 2.Space availability 3.Weight load 20. Solar energy pertinent to India's power generation India has a power generation capacity of 164,508 MW. Only 16429 MW is generated through solar energy. Getting energy from the sun. 21. Tata Power Solar bags NTPCs largest solar power project THE HINDU.July 4, 2013. BANGALORE 22. Tata Power Solar has won a contract from NTPC for a 50 MW solar photovoltaic Based project at Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh. The facility is expected to start in March 2014 and generate 78.66 million units (kWh) each year 23. New solar power initiatives yielding results THE HINDU, June 6, 2013 NEW DELHI On World Environment Day on Wednesday Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit dedicated to the Capital 345 kW solar energy project under which power distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has started generating power through 1,257 solar panels that have been installed the roof-tops of 8 BYPL offices, including 7 grid stations and two car parks. 24. India: 12% Growth in Renewable Energy Investment report launched this week by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) 25. Forget scam, solar energy has lot of potential: VS THE HINDU, Jul 4, 2013 THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan has said that the term 'solar energy' unfortunately brings to mind only the 'team solar panel' scam these days. The fact remains that solar energy has a huge potential in a state which is staring at an energy crisis, he says in an article dispatched to media organisations on Thursday 26. Renewable Energy - % Breakup in India as on Dec 2012 27. solar energy products 28. ssssssssssssssssssssss 29. THANKYOU......
