A solar oven, also known as a solar cooker, is an insulated enclosed device made to cook by using sunlight. Solar ovens can reach 300 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit when they are placed directly in sunlight.

There are three major types of solar ovens. One type of solar oven concentrates the sunlight with a reflective material to direct the sunlight into a specific area to make the energy more potent. Another type turns light to heat with a black panel. The third type uses a bag or a cover to trap the heat inside.
