Present Energy Scenario
• 40% of total population are getting electricity from national grid.
• 9% from solar system.
• 30% power consumed by lighting
• 58% of rural area is out of national grid.
• 16,000 MW will be generated by 2015.
• 800 MW from renewable source.
About 152 millions light bulbs are used per year in
Bangladesh. Out of this Incandescent 40%, Fluorescent
tube 30%, CFL 29%, and 1% is LED. This shows that the
prospect for LED light is huge.
Lighting consumes about 30% of the total electrical energy
consumption in Bangladesh. This amount of energy can be
reduced to 6 % if LED lamps are used.
