#35 - Donaldson Home - 852 E 930 S Circle, St George Solar PV, Grid-Tie, Net Meter, Other

The Donaldson family installed this 3 kW solar PV system to supply some of their home energy needs. They also made their home energy efficient, with ceiling insula-tion (R51 blown-in), wall insulation (R23 blown-in plus foam with reflective backing – net is approximately R27), an efficient A/C unit (SEER 16), and Low E Windows. With energy efficiency and renewable energy, the Donaldson family has reduced their power bills and overall energy footprint.

Directions: 700 South to 900 East. Turn right from 900 East onto 930 South Circle. Home is on the left of the cul-de-sac

City of St. George Net Metering Incentive Program

The City of St. George Energy Services Department has implemented a net metering program that provides a rebate to customers who install solar photovoltaic systems on their homes or businesses. Rebate amounts vary for residential and commercial customers. These rebates are in addition to applicable tax credits.

Residential customers $2,000 per installed kW up to 3 kW

Commercial customers $2,000 per installed kW up to 10 kW

Customer participating in this program will be billed the difference or “net” of the total amount of energy needed and the amount the system generates. For more information, visit: http://www.sgcity.org/wp/power/NetMeteringPolicy.pdf. For more information on this pro-gram or any other programs offered by the City of St. George Energy Services Department, please contact René Fleming at [email protected].

Tracy Aviary is harvesting the sun to light up their Australian lorikeets, tropical flamingos, and the stars of the bird show.

30 Photovoltaic solar collectors (5 kW) grace 450 square feet of the roof of the lorikeets' winter digs, and will produce around 8,000 kWh of elec-tricity per year. This project was made possible with a grant from Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky Renewable Energy Program.

#2 - Westminster College - 1840 S 1300 E, SLC Solar PV, Grid-Tie, Net Meter

This 8 kilowatt solar PV system was made possible with a grant from the Blue Sky Renewable

Energy Program. The panels produce enough electricity to power the equivalent of almost

three typical Utah homes and will keep 14.7 tons of carbon dioxide out of the air each year -

equivalent to removing three cars from the road each year.

The project is part of Westminster’s larger effort to become a leader in environmental sus-

tainability and will serve as a vital education tool for students, faculty, and the community.

Directions: Take exit 126 at 1300 E from I-80 and go North through 2 lights. College is on West. Installation on roof of Eccles Health, Wellness & Athletic Center, NW side of campus.
