INTRODUCTION: DEEPEX – SHORING DESIGN SOFTWARE

A. PROJECT DESCRIPTION – MODEL DATA In this example we will design a soldier pile wall (HP14x73 beams in 2.5’ diam. drilled holes), braced with steel rakers (HP12x84 beams), supporting a 25 ft excavation. The water table is at El: -25 ft.

F. DEEPEX – 2D SECTION ANALYSIS SETTINGS

1. Water Pressures (All Methods) -> Simplified Flow Analysis

2. Wall Friction (All Methods) -> 33% of the soil friction on both walls

3. Lateral Coefficients (Limit Equilibrium Method) -> Automatic procedure: The active earth coefficient is calculated with Coulomb method. The passive earth coefficient is calculated with Caquot-Kerisel method.

4. Driving Soil Pressures (Limit Equilibrium Method) -> Stages 0, 1 and 2: Active Pressures Stages 3, 4 and 5: FHWA Apparent Pressures

5. Beam Analysis (Limit Equilibrium Method) -> CALTRANS method
