NNOTES FROM THE LOFT
Join us Wednesday, June 30th at 6:30pm in the church for a LIVE CONCERT of your favorite hymns and show tunes as we present "SING FOR JOY", a celebration of the return of congregational singing and being together as community! You are invited to provide your favorite song (and a second choice in case we can't find your first one) in our REQUEST BOX located near the ramp door OR email your first and second choice to [email protected] by June 20th so we can prepare the program. We welcome favorite hymns or even show tunes. This event is free and is a wonderful way to continue building our community in spirit and song. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Looking forward to raising the rafters! Also available via live-stream.
St Joseph “Pick-Up Choir” - If you love to sing but find that the busyness of life doesn’t allow for the commitment of a weekly choir rehearsal or if the stairs up to the choir loft present a physical challenge, then the St. Joseph “Pick-Up Choir” may be the perfect opportunity to lend your talents to our music ministry! This new choir will support the gathered assembly at St. Joseph Church. Join us at the front of the church with the cantor for a 9:30 am warm-up prior to the 10 am Mass. There will be no stress of learning parts and no need to drag lots of music around with you. Just grab a hymnal/song sheet when you arrive and sing your heart out! The choir will sing from Palm Sunday to Christmas Day (when St. Joseph is open). Can’t make it every week? Not a problem as we always have a song-leader/cantor present. Another plus, the church is air-conditioned! We welcome any teenagers who would like to join too! The choir will start JUNE 27th. If interested contact me at [email protected]
~Cynthia Arsenault, Director of Music
In recognition of their achievements, all graduating seniors of St. Augustine Parish are invited to a Mass of Celebration on Sunday, June 13th at 5:30 PM in St. Augustine Church.
June 6 ~ Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood (Corpus Christi)
This Sunday we celebrate the beautiful feast of Corpus Christi – the Body and Blood of Christ. During this “Year of the Eucharist”, we focus on the fact that Christ is truly present in this gift that is so central to our life of faith. At the Passover meal of the Last Supper, Jesus blessed and broke the bread, gave it to his Apostles, and now he gives it to us, his disciples. Each time we gather for Mass and receive the Body and Blood of Christ we are then sent forth to be the Body of Christ to others. This precious gift, given to us by Jesus, is meant to be shared. He gave himself away utterly, so we must give ourselves away utterly. When you leave Mass today, be Christ’s presence to your family, friends and co -workers.
