Two pressure ratings areshown for all products featured in this catalog -typical application pressureand fatigue pressure. Thetypical application pressurerating is the maximum recommended operatingpressure for the valve in agiven system. The fatiguepressure rating is the pressure for the valve to befree for infinite life from metal fatigue.

Vickers solenoid valves areoffered with the widestchoice of flow paths andposition options to satisfymost requirements. Theseoptions include:

Coil Features and Benefits

The solenoid operateddirectional valves in this catalog are offered with achoice of standard voltagesand several types of electri-cal connections. For othercoil ratings and connec-tions, consult your Eatonrepresentative.

Standard AC coils are inter-nally rectified to supplythem with DC current,therefore they have no“inrush” current value.

• Coils are rated for contin-uous duty

• Coils are interchangeablefor serviceability

• Variety of voltages andterminations

• Coils offer a one-pieceweather-proof encapsu-lated design, eliminatingthe need for extra seals

• AC voltage coils are inter-nally full-wave rectifiedfor 50 or 60 cycle (Hz)applications

An arc suppression diodemolded into the coil is avail-able as a standard optionon DC coils. Also available,are explosion-proof coilsand cartridges that are CSAapproved and recognized bythe US UnderwritersLaboratories.

The rectifiers used in thesecoils may require protectionfrom high voltage surges insome electrical circuits con-taining highly inductive orcapacitive components.These include certain typesof motors, solenoids,relays, and transformers.

Protection is simple andinexpensive. It consists ofinstalling a commerciallyavailable voltage surge sup-pressor like the GeneralElectric MOV varistorV130LA20A for 115 volts ACor the V250LA20A for 230volts AC, across the AC line

supplying the rectified com-ponents. A single suppres-sor will normally protect allof the rectified componentsin the circuit, as shown inthe surge suppressor circuitdiagram below.

All voltagesurgeproducingcomponentsmust beinstalled onthis side ofsuppressor.

Switches or relay contacts only. Relaycoils must be connected on the lineside of the surge suppressor.

No inductive or capacitive loads can be installed between the surgesuppressor and rectified valveswithout additional precautions.

In the de-energized (center)position, all ports areblocked. When solenoid 1(S1) is energized, flow isdirected from port 3 to port

4 and from port 2 to port 1.When solenoid 2 (S2) isenergized, flow is directedfrom port 3 to port 2 andfrom port 4 to port 1.

Manual override “P”push type

Note

To override:

1. Turn the override buttonclockwise until it stops.

2. The override button willremain activated untilthe override button isturned counterclockwise.

To release:

1. Turn the override buttoncounterclockwise until itstops.
