As a photovoltaic system specialist, SOLEOS Solar GmbH supplies solar modules, inverters, assembly systems and accessories.

The experts at SOLEOS develop, plan and configure solar power systems, working together with a network of deal-ers and installers during project implementation. SOLEOS’ many years’ experience in the photovoltaic mar-

ket and the technical expertise of our employees enable us to develop tailor-made solutions for different applica-tions. Comprehensive one-to-one consultancy with SOLEOS experts enables the optimised design of photovoltaic sys-tems. During this process, the company cooperates with reputable partners and relies on innovative products to guarantee its customers premium quality and first-class service.

SOLEOS offers a large selection of synchronised products for both integrated grid-connected systems and for appli-cations in the off-grid sector. The company also has its own family of modules. The SOLEOS-LINE (220 Wp to 250 Wp) features a rigid frame and increased snow loading, as well as ‘Made in Germany’ or ‘Made in Austria’ quality. Besides mono and polycrystalline modules, amorphous and micro-amorphous thin film modules are an integral part of our product portfolio.

The service life and reliability of inverters are key. This is why SOLEOS trusts Kaco new energy products. Kaco of-fers a broad range of inverters for every type of photo-voltaic installation, rated from 1 kW to more than 1 MW. In addition, KACO provides an optional guarantee of up to 25 years, or maintenance service, on the entire inverter portfolio.

The product portfolio is complemented by assembly sys-tems for flat-roof, on-roof, in-roof and outdoor systems as well as custom solutions.

As of the beginning of 2010, SOLEOS Solar GmbH is also a member of PV CYCLE. The PV CYCLE initiative was founded in July 2007 by companies working in the photovoltaic industry as a European oriented association to set up a voluntary return and recycling program for photovoltaic modules. We operate in an industry which is also synonymous with sustainability. In order to live up to this claim, we want to provide our customers with the opportunity to return and recycle old SOLEOS-LINE modules.

We offer a broad selection of monocrystalline, polycrys-talline, amorphous and micro-amorphous solar modules for grid-connected systems.

Our solar modules are solely certified to Protection Class II, IEC 61215/61730 for crystalline modules and to IEC 61646/61730 for thin layer modules, and hence con-form to international standards.

Service and our warranty are very important to us. Our module suppliers guarantee a power supply of 80% over a period of 25 years and of 90% over a period of 12 years - as well as a 5-year product guarantee.

Our particularly high quality demands are also reflected in our “Made in Germany” and “Made in Austria” SOLEOS line. We allow selected manufacturers to produce prod-ucts in our name and under our label.

We recommend professionals to request detailed data sheets directly from SOLEOS or from local dealers. An up-to-date selection is available on our website:

Our SOLEOS line includes SOLEOS 220-2PS polycrystalline photovoltaic modules and SOLEOS 250-2MS and SOLEOS 240-2MS/SOLEOS 240 monocrystalline modules.

The SOLEOS line is manufactured in Germany and Aus-tria under the most stringent quality requirements. The modules feature a low power tolerance. This low value is the direct consequence of the optimum processing of excellent cells and prevents mismatch losses in the PV system.

The degree of efficiency ranges from 13.2% to 15.2% and the modules can withstand a snow load up to 5400 Pas-cal. The increased snow load is an indication of the resil-ience of the modules to external environmental factors. These modules are hence ideal for snowy areas.

Suntech Black Label is a completely black module which combines the premium-quality aesthetics of building-integrated photovoltaic products in a standard module, and which is mountable on roofs or facades.

Black Label is ideally suited to applications in which the appearance of the system is extremely important and a building-integrated system does not represent a practical solution.

Suntech Black Label can be installed in the same way as standard modules. Because Suntech Black Label is based on the standard monocrystalline module from Suntech, it offers an extremely cost-effective way of owning an aesthetically pleasing solar power system.

NexPower is one of the most innovative companies in the PV market in the manufacture of thin layer mod-ules. This Taiwanese company is a subsidiary of one of the world's leading semiconductor producers, UMC. Nex-Power has large, state-of-the-art production facilities for thin layer modules.

Amorphous and micro-amorphous modules offer ben-efits over crystalline modules - both on hot summer days and on days with poor weather in diffuse irradiation. The

excellent part load process means high yields are pos-sible even for suboptimal roof areas.

The micro-amorphous technology offers a further ben-efit - the dual structure enables a broader light spectrum to be used, meaning higher yields for the same surface area.

We provide black clamp holders colour-matched to the NexPower design.

Overview of solar modules and accessories

More yield through cleaningIt may be sensible in certain circumstances to clean the modules - such as with increased dust loading, soiling caused by pollen which sticks to the modules even af-ter a heavy downpour, or moss deposits on the module edges.

In these particular cases, we work together with com-panies which provide professional cleaning services for PV modules.

Demineralised water is used as a cost-effective and eco-logical solution.

Studies support increases in efficiency of up to 15% when systems are regularly cleaned.

Your benefits:

• professional cleaning at low-cost prices• additional protection for your system• ecological by not using chemical substances• low water requirement (1l/qm)

Other cabling in the form of pre-manufactured distributor lines, Y-branches and string distributor boxes are required for the plug-in connectors specified above. We will be glad

to provide one-to-one consultation for your project. Please note also that only clamp holders authorised by NexPower may be used.

Transformerless string invertersPowador 2500xi - 3600xi - 4000xi - 4500xi - 5000xi

The transformerless Powador inverters attain higher efficien-cies as a result of transformer-less technology. The redundant three-phase monitor (conformant to VDE 0126-1-1) and the inte-grated AC/DC sensitive error cur-rent safety switch are only two of the main features of this inverter family.

The free-of-charge KACO CALC design tool allows you to perfect-ly tailor virtually all modules to a particular inverter.

The inverter also has a redun-dant three-phase monitor, a pat-ented MPP controller and AC/DC sensitive error current protec-tion. This enables you to connect to the grid without any further action, even for systems with

multiple inverters. The maximum PV generator

power is 3.2 to 6.8 kWp. Con-necting to the grid is easy using screw terminals. For power up to and including 8 kWp, all Powador inverters run with dedicated passive, silent convection cooling. The lost heat is dissipated mainly from the rear cooling element, and the rest is radiated via the surface of the aluminium housing. Optionally fitted with "Relay 33" for the private usage of PV power in accordance with German Re-newable Energy Law $ 33.

The 6400xi - 8000xi string invert-ers represent the mid perform-ance class. DC isolator and string fuses are already integrated. This means less installation overhead for the technician.

These inverters are designed for high performance when work-ing as a trio, meaning that a sin-gle device feeds into each of the

three phases. The integrated Sym bus en-

sures that any potential imbal-ance does not exceed the maxi-mum permitted threshold of 4.6 kW, even in the event of a device fault. The inverters therefore also represent an alternative to central inverters.

Central inverters 25.000xi - 33.000xi

These central inverters have been developed for highest yields and demanding tasks in large-scale systems and phased-in PV systems.

The transformerless topology without boost converter has 3 DC inputs - connected to an in-dependent MPP tracker. This ensures degrees of adaptability near to the theoretical optimum of more than 99%.

The DC input voltage of these

central inverters is compatible with all single-phase, transfor-merless Powadors. Freely se-lectable combinations of the three devices enable you to cre-ate systems rated in the Mega-watt range.

The Park family with an effi-ciency of 97.4% is specially suited to deployment in solar parks and hence for outside use.

XP 100-HV and XP 350-HV TL central inverters

The Powador XP100-HV and XP 350-HV TL establish a new gener-ation of fully digital photovoltaic inverters - leaders in terms of user-friendliness and investment yield. Leading edge signal proc-essor technology provides opti-mal levels of performance, reli-ability and efficiency.

Our patented power electron-ics activation (several methods of pulse width modulation are used) significantly increases the switching efficiency of the power transistors.

For you, this means higher de-grees of efficiency and improved yields, regardless of the input voltage or current supply rating.

Simple settings are used on-site to adjust the inverters to the re-spective national requirements.

All popular interfaces are avail-able for flawless communication with the device.

The KACO Argus boxes act as string collector boxes for the in-verters in the 100 KW to 1 MW size.

They are used to collect the power of individual PV strings and to monitor individual strings. The power of every individual string is monitored. These values are read by the integrated controller board and shown on the display as well as sent over the RS485 interface to the data logger. This enables monitoring of every single string - even in very large systems.

Every string is also protected with a fuse.

Powador Megawatt Station

The Megawatt Station from KACO signals the dawn of a new dimen-sion - optimal performance, effi-ciency and reliability are a given with the cumulative AC nominal rating of 1050 kW.

The Powador Megawatt Station comprises three Powador XP 350-HV TLs connected to each other which, including medium voltage transformer, delivered as a turn-key station implementation.

The particular feature of this solution is that, for the three inverters to be equally loaded, KACO has for the first time im-plemented an innovative method with rotating Master function. Previously, the same inverter al-ways took care of Master-Slave circuit operations when solar radiation was low. The Master-

Change solution is used in the Megawatt Station. According to this principle, the three devices take it in turn as Master - an in-novation which increases the life of the inverters many-fold. Fur-thermore the high degree of effi-ciency of the Powador 350-HV TL of course continues in the Mega-watt Station.

The Megawatt Station is avail-able in various configurations and provides the option for custom adjustments (e.g. with integrat-ed proLOG) to the requirements of the system and grid operator (e.g. integration of a medium voltage measuring field).

Preview! Included in the portfolio from autumn 2010The Powador 18004

This year sees the introduction of the Powador 18004 as an alternative to the Transformer Set and it is ex-pected to be available from us in autumn 2010.

The Powador 18004 offers the ideal solution for the connection of larger solar parks constructed based on modules requiring earthing (+/- terminal). As a true three-phase current machine, it generates symmetric, sinusoidal alternating current to the highest quality – a dream for all grid operators.

3 strings can be connected to each input or DC/DC adjuster, meaning that the Powador 18004 can process

solar power from up to 9 strings. Peak eficiency is at least 96%. The task of cooling is

assumed by demand-actuated fans which are accurate-ly aligned with temperature-sensitive components.

An array of country settings is programmed in the inverter - these can easily be selected on the unit when installing on-site.

The Powador 18004 has a compact design and is sim-ple to install. And of course it satisfies the require-ments of Germany’s new Medium Voltage Directive.

Preview! In the product range from Autumn 2010The Powador XP200-HV and XP250-HV TL

The new central inverters Powador XP200-HV and Powador XP250-HV TL supplement both the 100-and 350-kilowatt devices which have so far comprised the XP-series. Both the new inverters have an AC power rating of 200 and 250 kilowatts. As a pair in a special lightweight steel housing, two XP250’s also form the new 500-kilowatt station.

Just as all the devices in this series, the new XP de-vices also operate with a fully digital control system: the grid parameters can be adapted to different requi-rements. The inverters therefore conform to the low

and medium voltage guideline and are also able to sup-ply reactive power.

New standards can be implemented at any time. The two new inverters are also flexible in terms of system design. The Powador XP200-HV is supplied as standard with, and the Powador XP250-HV TL without a trans-former. The XP200 is therefore suitable for direct feed into the low voltage grid, whilst one or more XP250’s feed into the medium voltage grid via a suitably se-lected transformer. The preset, regionally specific gridparameters facilitate in situ commissioning.

KACO accessories for system monitoring

Anybody investing in a photovoltaic system wants to be sure that it generates maximum power yields in an optimum operational state. No matter whether you are looking to keep an eye on a small system from the comfort of your home or to control an entire solar park when out and about, you are always the master of the situation with KACO accessories. We will be glad to assist in putting together your tailor-made solution so that you are able to keep an eye on yields from the very first second.

We offer data loggers as professional solutions which are synchronised perfectly to KACO inverters. The fact that proLog family data loggers and inverters come from the same source ensures optimal functionality and compatibility - perfect monitoring, data record-ing and analysis of the system, from the 5 kWp system right to the 60 MWp system.

For large-scale systems which are rated at 100 KW and which must be connected to the ripple control re-ceivers of energy suppliers, proLog XL family data log-gers provide the relevant interfaces to satisfy current

regulations.Various interfaces also provide connectivity for large

displays, alarm contacts, in-feed meters, etc. To also enable owners of smaller PV systems to achieve cost-effective monitoring of their systems, KACO has ex-tended its range of data loggers. Besides the very af-fordable miniLOG, elegant displays are available which not only show system data, but also have an aestheti-cally pleasing design.

In addition to the solutions from KACO, we can also offer you data loggers from the Solarlog family for systems with a medium rating (up to 100 kW). These makes the fundamental monitoring of the system very simple. There are also solutions here for mixed systems in which inverters other than KACO models are used.

The presence of an Internet router makes remote connection easy.

The Powador-proLOG: Accessory

The Powador-link RS485 is a radio module comprising a transmitter and receiver acting as a wireless extension of the RS485 bus on the inverter.

The 6-port RS485 hub is new to the range of ac-cessories. This device allows the configuration of a star-shaped RS485 network. This enables the simpler configuration of the RS485 bus system in many cases, simplifying cabling and resulting in savings in installa-tion costs.

As sturdy and flexible as the RS485 bus may be, it has one decisive drawback - it requires a cable! So what happens for example when a cable needs to

laid across a road - but not above or below it? The solu-tion is the Powador Link - the wireless cable!

This enables you to essentially use the Powador Link as a normal RS485 cable. On one side of the road, a module is installed at the point the cable must end. The other module is installed on the other side where the cable continues.

The radio bridge is fully transparent to all devices connected. No further configuration is necessary on the devices connected to the RS485 bus.

Powador-link RS 485

The IO module is an extension module with which you are able to increase the number of analogue/digital channels on the Powador-proLOG. The extension mod-ule is available in 2 variants:

• IO module 1 (4 analogue inputs, 4 digital inputs, 1 digital output)

• IO module 2 (8 digital inputs, 1 digital output)

IO modules

As an accessory for the large Powador-proLOG data log-ger, the current sensor provides two additional func-tions:

1. More than 32 string inverters or 10 central inverters can be linked to the monitor and up to 100 Powador-go units can be connected for each proLOG.

2. Inverters without an RS485 interface can also be monitored with the Powador-proLOG.Two versions of the Powador-go current sensors are now available.

These 2 versions are available:Advanced: RS485 is not optically isolatedPremium: RS485 is optically isolated

In the Premium variant, RS485 communication is galvanically isolated from the bus system. This is recommended if the sensors are combined with in-verters in the bus network. The Advanced variant is used in the Powador-go Set - galvanic isolation is not required here.

Module temperature sensor with temperature converter

This self-adhesive temperature sensor measures the temperature of photovoltaic modules. In order to do this, the temperature sensor is stuck onto the rear of a photovoltaic module. This silicone rubber plaster con-tains a PT100 thin film temperature sensor. The sensor is held tight against aluminium film used as the base.

After removing the protective film, the self-adhesive aluminium film can be stuck directly onto the surface to be monitored. The sensor is supplied with a 2m con-nection lead (wires 7 x 0.2), and works together with

the PXT 10 temperature converter. This conditions the signal of the PT 100 temperature sensor for the Pow-ador-proLOG. Line resistances between temperature sensor and temperature converter are compensated for. This converter is required for the self-adhesive module temperature sensor. For the Powador-proLOG, we recommend a 230V AC power supply to relieve load-ing of the internal PSU of the Powador-proLOG.

Irradiation sensor

The irradiation sensor is used for professional moni-toring of a photovoltaic system. The irradiation measured is used to determine the expected yield of a PV system and to compare it to the actual yield. The short-circuit current of a silicon (Si) solar cell is proportional to the solar irradiation. The Si sensors use a monocrystalline solar cell which is operated virtually in short-circuit with a low-impedance re-sistor. The positive temperature coefficient of the

short-circuit current results in a low measurement error. The Si sensors (with code TC) therefore have active temperature compensation which reduces this error by a factor of 20. A special temperature sensor is laminated into the rear of the solar cell for this purpose. All sensors have been calibrated against a pyranometer when exposed to sunlight (Kipp & Zonen, model CM11).

KACO CALC Pro is a free-of-charge program for the pro-fessional design and yield simulation of grid-connected photovoltaic systems. It runs under Microsoft Windows and is available for download on the KACO homepage (www.kaco-newenergy.de). Technical details for all KACO inverters, several hundred PV module types and irradiation data based on average values for the last 10 years for Germany are all available for calculations.

KACO CALC Pro enables you to design your overall system - either based on module data already stored or

based on parameters you enter yourself. You can also carry out a yield forecast and calculate the loss of AC and DC lines, including the loss for single and three-phase feed.

The program is available in German, English, Span-ish, Italian, Czech and French.

Analysis optionsPowador-monitor

Powador-monitor is PC software for the local analy-sis of readings recorded by the Powador-proLOG data logger. Data is transferred to the computer via a modem or over Ethernet. The data can be import-ed with a compact flash card. Different views can

be selected. Archiving is also possible, allowing users to visu-ally check inverter values over longer periods.

Analysis optionsPowador-web

Powador-web is an Internet portal which, in conjunc-tion with the Powador-proLOG, enables comprehensive analysis and visualisation of photovoltaic systems. The options range from energy production related to dif-ferent time periods and sub-systems (including actual-target comparisons and individual inverter values such as current, voltage, power on inputs and outputs) to

module temperature and solar irradiation. Also, alarm conditions and types of messages can be configured and regulated.Powador-web displays are available in 10”, 15” and 42” sizes.

Yield forecast:

The following calculations are possible:

Cable losses:

Cable loss calculation is divided into three subgroups - DC cable losses, AC cable losses and AC three-phase cable losses. This enables you to calculate cable loss-es individually. For cable losses on the DC side, you should also consider generator connection boxes.

An average annual irradiation figure is recorded for every postcode. The irradiation is used to calculate a yield forecast (dependent on alignment and setup angle of the modules). The yield forecast is a con-servative estimate which is generally exceeded in practise.

PV system design:

Using the module type and the number of modules as the starting point, you can establish which KACO inverters are suitable for your system. This takes into consideration the ratings of modules in relation to the inverter rating, the MPP voltage, the open-circuit voltage and the system voltage.

All popular PV modules are kept in a list which is continually updated. If your module is not in the list, you can easily add new modules from the input screen. Modules entered yourself are retained when the list is updated later.

The SOLEOS portfolio includes all brackets for attaching solar modules on the roof. SOLEOS has the right solution for every roof and roof covering.

We offer installation systems for flat-roof, on-roof, in-roof and outdoor systems as well as custom solutions.

Our portfolio includes:

• Sloped-roof installation systems• Flat-roof systems• Outdoor elevation supports• Installation systems for trapezoidal sheet roofs• Roof integration systems Integreos• Custom solutions: Facade systems Mast construction

Sloped-roof installation frames are understood to in-clude all roof parallels and elevated systems with a cer-tain module angle.

Flat-roof systems are elevated systems with loading by curb stones or gravel.

Outdoor elevations are used for erecting on concrete foundations or with ground bolts.

Roof integration systems are integrated directly into the roof as sealing roof coverings.

Facade systems are systems attached to a wall at an angle or flat.

Mast attachments are module attachments for street lights or for anti-theft protection for off-grid systems.

Our installation systems form an inherently coordinated range of individual components. Trained personnel configure these for a particular project with an eye to simple and quick installation, required safety and cost optimisation of photovoltaic systems. Of particular note is the fact that materials with the necessary resistance to environmental factors and destructive processes are used.

36

Tailor-made customer-specific price calculations and material compositions of materials are based on indi-vidual customer-side data entry, preferably using our company’s various checklists and of course over the telephone.

Preparation and planning of installation systems is only possible with good customer contact. Customer consultation and support is hence our top priority. This starts with bid proposal and continues through the or-dering and delivery phases, ending with installation on the roof.

Important applicable standards and directives:

DIN ISO 9001DIN 1055 Effects on bearing loads -Part 4 Wind loads, Part 5 Snow loadsJoints in accordance with DIN 188000DIN 1052 Timber structures

Static structural integrity verification can be provided for all installation systems if so required.

This substructure can be used for attachment on sloped roofs with different roof coverings (module independ-ent). This comprises a of a roof attachment element (e.g. roof hook, roof seam clamps, hangar bolt, trap-ezoidal shoes, etc.), aluminium profile rails, stainless steel joint elements and a material for clamping the modules on the profile rails.

Selection of the appropriate roof attachment ele-ment is based on the roofing, the condition of the load-bearing roof sub-structure, the load-bearing capacity of the roof and the roof angle.

Variant 1: Modules mounted vertically (standing)Fig. 1 shows a simple, lightweight substructure on hori-zontally positioned DC profile rails. The horizontal roof hook gap here is <= 1600mm. M6 cylinder head bolts are used as components for the installation, with washers and nuts to ensure non-slippage of the modules. Ham-mer-head bolts connect the aluminium profile rails to the roof hooks used. Threaded plates, clamping plates and washers are hooked into the DC profile rail pre-mounted. Two aluminium clamping plates are used to attach two modules together on the aluminium profile. Clamping brackets are used at the end of every module row. The same procedure is used for all other rows.

Variant 2: Modules mounted horizontally (lying)A substructure for horizontally mounted modules is of-ten preferred for appearance reasons (Fig. 2).Installation is performed onto the vertically mounted DC profile rails. To secure modules when installing, holes 7mm in diameter are drilled into the DC profile rails about 25mm from the lower edge. The clamp-ing bracket bolts are guided through these holes. The clamping brackets are therefore used to ensure non-slippage. The modules are attached again with clamp-ing plates between the individual module rows. Clamp-ing brackets are again used for installation of the final top module rows.

Variant 3: Cross bracingFig. 3 shows an assembly substructure of cross bracing design with vertical connection rails and horizontal at-tachment rails mounted on top. This system is used for heavily loaded systems.

Variant 4: Modules elevatedWith elevated systems, a sturdy triangle made of alu-minium L-profiles is placed on the roof attachment to position the modules at the correct angle. The pro-file rails are screwed with hammer-head screws to the tilted traverse of the elevation triangle.

Flat roof installation system

A flat roof installation system is used for the deployment of ballasting for simple and quick installation of photo-voltaic systems at ground level and on flat roofs up to an angle of approx. 5°.

The load-bearing capacity of the roof must be checked beforehand by the customer.

The standard products for elevations, the anchor bolts for attachment in concrete and the T-brackets or plastic plates for taking ballast are included in the delivery. The concrete blocks and gravel are not included in quotations or deliveries. We determine the ballast weight necessary for a specific case on the basis of all static information such as snow and wind load, self-weight, elevation angle,

module size and position. Positioning of modules to approx. 30° is recommended

to leverage the optimum annual efficiency. The univer-sally deployable triangle structure made of aluminium L-profiles, for bolting or already welded, has a reliable and proven track record in many applications.

The modules can be mounted vertically or crosswise in observance of the installation instructions from the mod-ule manufacturers. If modules are to be elevated cross-wise, it would be useful if you could tell us the clamping method you plan to use.

Variant 1 with concrete blocksIt is possible to position the concrete blocks under-neath the elevation frame so as to then anchor it in the concrete with anchor bolts. The frame can sit on the concrete with the base bracket or be secured at the tie bar.

Variant 2 with curb stonesFig. 2 shows loading with curb stones which are placed directly onto the brackets of the aluminium T-profiles.The distance between brackets must be 1m. Laying of the building protective mat must prevent the T-profiles pressing into the roof membrane.

Variant 3 with gravel loadingExisting gravel layers on flat roofs can be used as weighting. For this we offer trapezoidal plastic plates onto which the elevation triangles are screwed with hexagonal screws. The plates can take up to 12cm of gravel. If the gravel is only limited to the photovoltaic surface, aluminium sheet metal trays with welded-on elevation brackets are available. These two variants allow a row network.

The ConSole is an innovative system specially devel-oped for the installation of PV modules on flat roofs. All popular modules and laminates can be attached to it. This all-in-one system comprises the ConSole, alu-minium profiles and all minor parts for assembly.

Installation is quick and easy. Simply attach the pro-files on the module, fill the gravel or slabs as ballast into the ConSole and screw the module to the ConSole. The ConSole is made of recycled, durable plastic, is 100% chlorine-free and requires no maintenance. The ConSole is also TÜV-tested.

Outdoor installation system

The outdoor installation system enables the implemen-tation of diverse configuration options on even ground. The attachment of single or multi-row photovoltaic systems is independent of the module type and the po-sition of modules is variable. Diagonal struts secure the

system against lateral forces. The setting angle used can be configured according to customer requirement and local conditions.

ReMax is a rail system to implement large spanning widths. In addition to the main application (installa-tion in open spaces), it is also very well suited for cus-tom structures such as multi-row elevations, large roof beam gaps and flat roofs with large distances between supports.

All ground connection options are open for system installations in open spaces. The number of rows above one another and the gap between supports can also be freely selected within wide ranges. This enables you to implement the most cost-effective solutions (conform-ant to the static requirements). An extremely instal-lation-friendly claw fastening system is used to join individual rail levels. Telescopic inserts are provided for connecting individual carriers.

Outdoor installation system

Variant 1Angled design on concrete foundationThe proven system offers the simplest configuration in which the angled structure is used on individual foun-dations, strip foundations or foundation plates. The substructure comprises aluminium brackets or profiles made of hot-dipped galvanized steel or stainless steel, aluminium profile rails and stainless steel joint ele-ments (bolts, nuts, washers).

Variant 2Steel tube design on concrete foundationsAnother system installation configuration is the steel tube carrier design with supporting feet. The tele-scope-type design allows additional height compensa-tion. The structure comprises hot-dipped galvanized steel tubes, aluminium profile rails and stainless steel joint elements. Mortar cartridges (two-component ad-hesive) and threaded bolts are used for the attach-ment to the foundations.

Variant 3Steel tube structure with DOMA® screw foundationsThe use of a steel tube structure in combination with DOMA® screw foundations provides for a very uncom-plicated type of outdoor system installation. Screw foundations are turned into the ground for anchoring, hence making the pouring of concrete foundations re-dundant. This variant is excellently suited to compen-sating for unevenness in the ground and can be used for different ground types without sealing the ground. The steel tubes on which the proven installation system is attached are mounted on the screw foundations.

Installation system for trapezoidal sheet roofs

For trapezoidal sheet roofs in particular, SOLEOS offers an attachment system which has crossbar profiles and is suitable for all module types. The ReDuce installa-tion system is a riveted variant used mainly for sloped trapezoidal roofs. Modules are placed directly on the rails and locked into place.

Wind and eddy forces are low here because the contact surface of the wind is lower due to the lower mounting position. On the ReDuce system, a special coating ensures securing of the countersunk head screws in the pressure plates and the correct seating of the threaded plates. All screws are stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are made of sea water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This installation system is guaranteed for 10 years.

The ReJect installation system is an elevated system suitable for different subsurfaces and facades. Trian-gles are available in all angles and sizes, welded or bolted - depending on customer requirement.

The system is secured with weight loading, hanger bolts or rivets. Individual, optimal roof layouts can be attained with edgewise or crosswise assembly. The roof surface area is used to its maximum. Easy insertion and fixing enables simple installation of the modules. All screws are stainless steel and rustproof and all rails are made of sea water-resistant aluminium (EN AW 6060). This system is also guaranteed for 10 years. For the lightweight design of trapezoidal plates in particular, an extended variant of the ReJect system is available as a riveted elevation with so-called wind deflectors. The rivet joint (the ground rails are riveted directly to the trapezoidal plate) and the wind deflector compen-sate for the wind forces and no additional weighting is necessary.

Roof integration systems

SOLEOS Integrate The main components of this installation system are aluminium plates which are bolted to the roofing bat-tens. These form a kind of trough for accommodating the other parts. Both vertical and horizontal module installations are possible.

All of the attachment materials are part of the pre-configured installation system. You also receive mate-rials for final sealing of the system as per the installa-tion notes.

Because the plates are split into vertical sections, there is a "chimney suction effect" in every segment which cools the modules. This results in particularly positive yield trends.

NEW! Integreos - The innovative in-roof solution

Mounting of the innovative in-roof installation system is possible for vertical and horizontal module installation. It combines the proven module clamping system with

sealing, integrated roof components and stainless steel joint parts.

Integreos is the first in-roof system for which the stand-ard modules can be used as a water-bearing layer. This was specially developed for the requirements arising from the French feed-in law, but is suitable for the whole of Europe with its flexible application areas.

The innovative leak tightness concept is new in the Integreos system. Given that, for standard modules, the seal between frame and glass is only used for me-chanical embedding of the module, no water tightness is guaranteed. If water should penetrate the module at this place, special grooves are used to drain the water.

The distance between modules is only 6mm. The ap-pearance of the system is hence also a benefit because it looks like an enclosed surface.

Custom solutions

A mast structure is an installation system used for off-grid systems away from a network. This is used to at-tach all popular photovoltaic modules to a mast at the required height. We also tailor this type of installation directly to your requirements and the local conditions. We offer you a range of possibilities because both the mast head and the mast can be configured individually.

Mast structure

Facade system

Facade systems are a substructure for the simple erection of canopies using all popular photovoltaic modules. The standard system comprises U-bolts which are kept vari-able in length in line with the module sizes.

The setting angle, the colour and the design details can

be varied according to customer requirements. This in-stallation system can also be combined with all available installation system parts. You will need to tell us the ex-act wall structure and the static conditions for assessing the wall attachments.

This variant shows one method of attaching to the sub-surface. Two aluminium profile rails are bolted to the U-bolts such that the modules can be mounted inde-pendently of their size. To attach the modules, direct attachment with stainless steel screws and threaded plates in the module frame is possible using existing assembly holes or the clamping method.

A canopy substructure made of aluminium L-profiles or aluminium box profiles represents a cheap alternative compared to the tube design. The triangles comprising three elements can be welded or bolted. Modules are attached as described above. At the start and end of the row is a diagonal stiffener which is attached to the DC profile.

Installation system accessories

We have put together some explanations for you so as to enable you to more rapidly locate the roof hooks required.

Roof hooks are used for roofs with roof tiles, slate tiles or concrete tiles. An additional distinction is made be-tween pantile and plain roof hooks. The use of roof hooks with a base plate is recom-

mended because the best place for feeding through the bracket can be found by moving the plate on the rafter. We make our roof hooks from different sorts of steel.

This is why our standard versions are labelled appro-priately:

• Stainless steel*¹ = stainless steel 1.4301• Stainless steel*² = mixed (clamp: stainless steel

1.4301; base plate: stainless steel 1.4016)

Roof hooks in other steel types are available on re-quest.

To find the right roof hook for every load, our roof hooks are calculated statically and labelled accord-ingly.

Maximum bearable vertical force

These values correspond to the maximum bearable vertical force and have been calculated for the follow-ing conditions:

• Roof angle 30° • Permitted pressure 18.0 kN/cm²• Up-to-date drawings of the roof hooks

An average value has been determined for height ad-justable roof hooks - this lies at a height adjustment of 25mm. Slate roof hooks are exceptions. Here the

height adjustment does not have any bearing on the maximum bearable vertical force.

For pantile tiles and plain roof hooks, the lower bracket is designed to be used for a standard slat height (cross slat) of 3cm. A custom hook must be pro-duced for lower slat heights. The height difference for larger slats can be compensation with rafter attach-ments 5mm thick by bolting them to the rafter.

Height-adjustable roof hooks are used to level uneven roofs.

• Max. height adjustment for pre-mounted clamp position: approx. 2.5cm

• Max. height adjustment for turned clamp: approx. 5cm

Some of the factors affecting the selection of roof hooks:

• The diameter of the attachment screw. We offer as standard an elongated hole in the upper part of the bracket with a diameter of 9mm.

• The static requirements for the installation sys-tem. We supply our hooks in bracket thicknesses 30x5, 35x6, 40x6 and 40x8.

• The demands made of the base plate holes:

Small base plate: 150 x 60 x 4, 8 holes @ 9mmStandard base plate: 180 x 80 x 4, 8 holes @ 11 mmBase plate for highest static load: 180 x 80 x 5, 12 holes @ 11 mm

Plain roof hooks

Plain roof hooks have been specially developed for use on roofs with plain roofing and are screwed directly onto the rafter with two 8x100 hexagonal head wood screws. An area of 16.5 to 36cm is covered with the rafter gaps.Because the long cantilevered bracket of the plain roof

hooks rests on the tile underneath, we recommend re-placing clay tiles with sheet tiles.

Slate and shingle roof hooks

Two variants are offered depending on the type of roof-ing:

1. Short shingle roof hooks enable mounting on shingle roofs. EPDM tape is bonded in between the membrane and bracket for sealing or the roof hook is tarred in. Two 8x80 hexagonal wood screws are required for attach-ment.

2. Long slate roof hooks are suitable for larger roof slates and can be covered with roofing felt shingle on

shingle roofs. Holes are countersunk with Ø 7mm and are intended for 3 x flat head wood screws (6x80).The tiling sheet is used for slate roofing and replaces the roof slate at the roof hook position. The edge of the sheet (bent upwards) holds the slate above at the ap-propriate height.

Module clamping brackets are used at the end of each row or column to attach the modules. Clamping brackets must be adjusted to the thickness of the module frames.

Module clamping plates always clamp the modules be-tween two neighbouring modules. The M6 threaded plate is similar in shape to the head of a hammer-head screw. This is fixed to the screw with a special adhesive to en-able effective mounting of the clamping plates. When tightening clamping brackets and clamping plates, ensure that the threaded plate is turned into the DC pro-

file by 90° for the threaded plate to be secure in the profile. The distance between the modules in a column is determined by the hexagonal M6 screws of the clamping plates.

Ensure also that the clamping brackets press down on the module edge as straight as possible. All clamping at-tachments are then tightened to about 11-12 Nm.

Application

Pre-mounted rail connec-tors are supplied in assembly systems with hammer-head screws.

The substructure is subject to a length change depend-ent on temperature. For a DC profile rail 6 metres in length, this change is approx. 5mm above the annual average. The simplest way to factor in this expansion is to use rails with a maximum length of 12m when mounting. If this is not possible, or only possible with considerable overhead, longitudinal expansion con-nectors are used.

New to our portfolio, and available now, is the Solar Car-port rated at 5-5.5 kWp. This is achieved using 24 photo-voltaic modules. The angle of incidence can be adjusted within a range of 5° to 25°.

Simple installation and easy expansion are two major features of the design.

A profile attached underneath the modules as a sealing rail ensures the roof is watertight. This profile ensures orderly water drainage. A perforated plate is attached below the profiles to ad-

dress the safety issues pertaining to overhead glazing. The plate guarantees rear ventilation of the modules and can also be coloured so that unsightly cables cannot be seen.

Many other accessories, such as roof sheeting, gutter-ing and lighting, are of course also available.

NEW! Fill up with sunshineWith the Solar Carport

Do you want to give your carport colour-matching side walls? We offer the following solution:

Static cross beams made of zinc-plated steel lend the system stability. Select your very own colour from the current RAL range for the aluminium profiles.

We can supply the shapely and modern Carport in a standard size, as a double carport or with a field-wise extension option. You receive all fastening materials for the concrete foundation as well as detailed setup in-structions.

Use the roof to support a photovoltaic system.

An off-grid system is the name given to a self-contained energy supply system. These types of systems have no connection to an available power network. The following pages describe all of the components which make up an off-grid system:

• Off-grid inverters• Solar charge regulator• Batteries• Wind turbine

Please contact us should you not be able to find the prod-uct you are looking for. Our technical staff are available at all times to help out:

We provide support in the technical design of your project and provide you with technical documents - with tailor-made drawings for your project if so required.

What are off-grid systems?

Off-grid systems are used in areas where there is no elec-tricity network.

They are also used in applications such as toys, mo-bile phone chargers, garden lamps, allotments, mobile homes, holiday homes, residential buildings and parking meters.

Off-grid photovoltaic systems comprise a generator (solar module), a charge regulator and, where required, power conversion (off-grid inverter) and energy storage (battery). We will be glad to assist in the design and configuration

of your tailor-made solar system. For optimal system de-

sign, we will need certain information from you, without which we will be unable to generate a quotation.

Because solar irradiation levels and differ in every lo-cation on the planet, an exact description of the location is important (country, place, features of the surround-ings, type of roof, etc.)

Because the size of the system is heavily dependent on the daily consumption (in Wh), accurate information on individual consumers and how long they use the equip-ment must be available.

Local power generation is where the future lies, espe-cially in areas with no reliable public electricity net-work. Off-grid inverters enable local electricity networks to be set up to support any kind of alternating current consumers. The requirements for off-grid inverters are high - good conversion efficiency, high overload capabil-ity, tolerance to voltage fluctuations of batteries, and an economical operating state.

Not a problem for our KI family of off-grid inverters! They provide independent power supply in regions away from the grid under extreme conditions. The KI fam-ily comprises galvanically isolated devices with MOSFET

semiconductors.They convert the direct voltage (e.g. 12V, 24V or 48V)

of a battery into alternating voltage (230V/50Hz or 110V/60Hz). Even sensitive electronic devices such as energy-saving lamps and laptops can be run with it. Us-ing our inverters is often cheaper than purchasing less efficient 12V DC devices. Beware: Solutions with a "modi-fied sine wave voltage" (trapezium or triangular shape) or square wave voltages can even damage sensitive op-erating equipment.

AquaGen® premium.top Recombiner system for stationary batteries

Functional description

When using the AquaGen® premium.top recombination system, the hydrogen and oxygen created in the battery during water replacement are routed into the AquaGen® stopper.

An integrated stainless steel catalyst is used to recom-bine these gases, creating water vapour. This water va-pour condenses on the sides of the AquaGen® stopper. The water drops formed flow downwards and are rechan-nelled into the battery.

The efficiency of this recombination is up to 99%. This efficiency drastically reduces the overhead for topping up water (to the maintenance-free state). With the re-combination of gases created, the ventilation require-ment can be drastically reduced in line with EN 50272-2 / DIN VDE 0510 Part 2.

Maintenance-free state without limitations

When using the AquaGen® premium.top, recombination does not take place on active components (electrodes) or in the battery. The AquaGen® premium.top recombin-er is installed on the battery as an external component. This avoids temperature rises in the battery.

Isolation of the recombination process from the active components of the battery enables maximised mainte-nance-free operation (as with closed batteries) without reducing the expected service life and without restrict-ing operating conditions. The AquaGen® premium.top H is available in capacities

up to 340 Ah and for applications with size restrictions (such as height in regard to battery configuration and depth in regard to cell dimension).

Product features:

• Integrated catalyst= Extreme prolonging of the water top-up interval (to maintenance-free state)= Reduced ventilation requirements and hence cost reduction in ventilation and air-conditioning

• Integrated bi-directional valve= Maximised efficiency of the recombination on the level of closed batteries

= No escape of gas or particulate matter (equivalent to closed batteries)

• Integrated flame arrestor= Reduced battery-related explosion risk

• Integrated absorber= Operational over the entire life of the battery

Superwind - The perfect compliment for not so sunny days

The Superwind is a small wind turbine for professional use.

The technological concept, blade adjustment and pre-mium quality mean that these wind turbines offer opti-mal reliability and are a cost-effective alternative and a perfect complement to photovoltaic systems - especially in regions with no link to the grid.

High level of performance and low noise emissions are particular features.

Technology

Superwind turbines are redefining the technological state of the art. They satisfy the highest professional demands and can be operated fully unattended without restriction - even in extreme climatic conditions.

With their well-thought-out overall design and aerody-namic rotor control, they offer the highest levels of reli-

ability and operation safety and are the system of choice when it comes to reliable energy supply.

In order to achieve aerodynamic rotor control, the controller mechanics are fully integrated into the hub and are used to adjust the rotor blades (as in large-scale systems). Aerodynamic and centrifugal forces are used for adjustment - these are created at the rotor on the strength of the special geometry and kinematics whilst running, and act upon the controller. The rotor blade ad-justment mechanism responds very quickly and controls with precision the power delivered and the rotor speed of the wind turbine.

For the user, this means the highest level of opera-tional safety under all operating conditions.

Also suitable for turbulent sites

A wind vane is used to provide a yaw system. This has been designed so that the Superwind remains steady in wind, even when situated in turbulent locations. The same applies when used on yachts - neither the listing of the boat nor the rolling movements from the wind unsettle the Superwind. Slip-rings are used to transfer the power from the yaw part to the fixed part of the wind turbine.

Materials

Premium quality and corrosion-resistant materials are used in production. All of the mechanical components are integrated into the housing and are well protected from any dust, salt and moisture penetrating the hous-ing. The housing components and the wind vane are made of a seawater resistant aluminium alloy and are also powder-coated. All steel components, such as ax-les, shafts, bearings and bolts, are made of V4A steel. The rotor blades are made of a carbon fibre strength-ened and UV-resistant synthetic material.

SCR Marine charge regulator:

Stop switch

The Stop switch is used to switch off the device (for example for maintenance work)

The switch has two positions: RUN: The positive line of the turbine is connected to the positive line of the battery. The negative line of the turbine is connected to the negative line of the battery.

STOP: The positive and negative lines of the turbine are connected together. Turbine short-circuit brakes the rotor. Positive and negative lines of the battery are open and disconnected from the wind turbine.

The reCUBE was specially devel-oped for use in areas away from the grid. It forms a mobile sup-ply unit which can work without a diesel generator and which is completely based on renewable energy sources.

It uses a PV generator to con-vert solar power into electricity and stores this in a battery. The system is aided by a wind wheel which compensates for the lack of solar power at night and dur-ing months with less sunshine. At the heart of the system is a KACO off-grid inverter (model K 3000) which can provide a maximum power of 9 kW at short notice. The system is tailored to the re-quirements of the customer and

is provided to the customer as a completely configured unit. The reCUBE is also available in versions tailored to the needs of the customer. The number of modules (6 or 9) can be speci-fied by the customer to align the power of the PV generator to re-quirements. In addition, a bypass switch for connecting the reCUBE to an existing or future electric-ity network is provided.

After the connection is made, the reCUBE checks the actual en-ergy provision of the network and accepts the supply if the network cannot deliver any power.

Solar cables

Our solar cable are made of tinned, fine-wired copper with a double jacket as an insulation layer. We supply our cables with different external diameters depending on the customer-specific requirement profile. All cables are TÜV certified. Strippable or bonded sheathing is a typical feature of our solar cables. The cables feature high temperature resistance and mechanical stability and are UV and ozone resistant. The expected service life for trouble-free use is 25 years.

The cable varieties shown here only represent a se-lection of all available cables. We have decided to only offer our solar cables in black. There are two reasons for this:

Firstly, black cables are more stable under exposure to UV light. With red and blue cables, UV light penetrates relatively deeply into the insulation. This means that the UV stabilizers in the material intervene to protect the

base material. With black cables, the pigments producing the black col-our also help to absorb UV radiation. So UV radiation does not penetrate deep into the material. The conse-quence is long service life of the insulation.

Perceived safety is another reason for colour coding between the positive and negative lines. Many invert-ers have been damaged by attaching the red cable to the positive terminal and the blue cable to the negative terminal.

We therefore recommend always running a polarity check with the meter before connecting to the inverter. We see the lack of colour coding as a gain in safety dur-ing installation because the polarity must be determined with a measurement.
