Voltage Stability & Protection
Suitable for most types of electrical and electronic equipment, Ashley-Edison’s PEN AC Voltage
Stabilisers continuously monitor the incoming supply. Should the incoming voltage rise or drop, the
Stabilizers will automatically control the output to ensure the voltage reaching the load equipment
always remains constant at the requisite voltage. Inbuilt spike protection ensures the load is
continuously protected against harmful mains born high energy spikes and surges.

speed of response and impressive ±0.5% output voltage accuracy.
Solid State Design
Based on the highly reliable and endurable Saturable Reactor design principle, PEN Series AC
Voltage Stabilisers are solid state in nature. With no moving parts, they are virtually ‘Maintenance
Free’ solutions.

Being a somewhat more pricey voltage stabilisation solution when compared to our popular range of
SES Servo-Electronic based Stabilisers, PEN AC Voltage Stabilisers are primarily intended for
‘Mission Critical’ applications where the load equipment is ultra-sensitive to the vagaries of the
incoming mains supply and demands a highly stable supply voltage - eg. Laboratory and testing
equipment and ‘High-Tech’ manufacturing processes.

An ‘AIDING’ and ‘OPPOSING’ Magnetic Amplifier is connected across the
main transformer to either increase or reduce the input voltage should it go
high or low. This is achieved by increasing or reducing the magnetic
inductance in the two cores. The Control Amplifier Sensor will detect the
input fluctuations and then inject a DC current into the two respective
Amplifiers to either increase or reduce its inductance.
Reducing the inductance will increase or reduce the output voltage and
vice versa. The Sensing Amplifier monitors the output voltage continuously
and automatically adjusts the DC currents through the control coils,
thereby ensuring that the output voltage is kept constant.
With this style design topology there are no moving parts and maintenance
requirements are minimal.
The Filter, in conjunction with the inductance of the magnetic core, forms
an extremely effective means of suppressing high energy spikes and other
mains borne noise.
